Making a series of holes, bunkers, fairways and hazards to entertain the top pros and juveniles alike is never an easy task. Many landscape designers focus on making golf courses that are visually attractive as well as playable. While they can’t help introducing
the nature-challenge combo on the fields, we can’t ignore the top 20 golf courses in the world.
Bandon Trails:
At tenth place this golf course is designed by the team of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw and is a major part of the Bandon Dune Golf Resort.
The Brandon Trails course was inaugurated in the year 2005 and holds one of the most complex fields to play on. This course has a collection of forests, meadows and dunes for the golfers to experience a rather gregarious golfing experience.
An interesting fact about this golf course is that no golf carts are allowed to be used in the fields, which mean that the golfers usually have to hike a long and winding field.
Bethpage Black Course:
Bethpage State Park holds a total of 5 courses on the Long Island and Bethpage Black Course is the toughest of all.
The Bethpage Black Course is known to be the first golf course which had been publicly owned and operated course to play the host for the U.S. Open in the year 2002. After 2002, the golf course hosted another U.S. Open in the year 2009.
St. Andrews:
This is a par 72 golf course, which has ruled the natural lands since the 15th century. The St. Andrews golf course is located in the Scotland’s East Coast and has a total yardage of 7,279.
This place has the St. Andrews golf course as the old one and has 4 more golf courses besides the previously stated golfing field. There are 4 other 18-hole courses and one 9-hole course for various golfers. Other than these magnificent courses, a practice
center is also built so that golfers of all skill levels can be accommodated.
The St. Andrews and the other golf courses are all public but require reservations beforehand. The St. Andrews is situated at the beautiful and exigent North Sea Dunes which is testing event to the most top-class golfers ever born.
The other golf courses are good for all those who aren’t the wannabe-pros. According to many critics, the Strathtyum Course is the most ideal place for the struggling golfers whereas the 9-hole Baglove is the best place for the young golfers to begin their
golfing devotion.
Cog Hill Golf Club:
The Cog Hill Golf Club was built by David McIntosh and was instated for the first time in the year 1927. The golf club was opened at the weekend of the 4th of July and is located just at the exterior of Chicago Illinois.
The Cog Hill Golf Club is a public golf complex and has been host to the PGA Tour’s BMW Championship since 2009. The hosting rights are continued till the year that is 2011.
The Royal Down Country Golf Club:
The Royal Down Country Golf Club is 100 years old, it has stayed famous and will remain a factor of awe for many in the coming years. The Golf club is located in the United Kingdom and stands at number 6 in the top 20 list.
The course from Ireland is situated in between the Mourne Mountains and the Irish Sea. The Newcastle course is a beautiful nightmare for golfers all around the world with its tough rounds and elegant surroundings.
The Royal course is famous for its native plants lined up on the course like heather and gross. To further add to the beauty, wild Tussocks tower above the bunkers from the mountains and the soft wind from the sea increases the tension.
