Top 25 Possible January Transfer Targets (Part 4)
Oscar Cardozo (Benfica):
The Benfica striker has scored 61 goals in 90 games for his club and has a good goal scoring average. With Liverpool finding goals hard to come by, Cardozo would be a great addition to the squad as the Paraguayan has an eye for goal and is a complete striker.
At 6’3”, he has an imposing presence in the opponent’s half and would do well to make a strong pairing with Fernando Torres (if Torres stays there).
Lisandro Lopez (Lyon):
The Argentinean striker has been a great success after his move from F.C. Porto last season as he scored 15 times for Lyon in his first season.
The 26 year old can play as a striker or as a winger and Liverpool or Athletico Madrid might want to check their pockets pretty deep if they want the services of Lopez as he was bought only last season for £24 million and would not agree for anything less
than or equal to that price even if Lyon do consider letting him go.
Phillipe Mexes (A.S. Roma):
With A.S. Roma having a torrid season, the Frenchman might consider leaving so that he can get into Laurent Blanc’s French national team.
Liverpool are rumoured to be monitoring his situation and A.C. Milan also might want to buy the experienced defender to improve their ageing defensive line.
Alexis Sanchez (Udinese):
The quick and tricky winger from Chile impressed at the World Cup and was strongly linked with Manchester United but still, the 21 year old stayed in Italy. But, now with Udinese struggling in the league so far, a move to Manchester United might be the best
thing for the winger to take his career to new levels.
With Valencia out injured, Manchester United might want to put their money on the 21 year old. He could be a great support behind Berbatov, Rooney or Hernandez.
Mauricio Isla (Udinese):
Another Chilean from Udinese has also attracted the attention of Manchester United. The 22 year old right back, Mauricio Isla could be an excellent replacement for Gary Neville.
With Udinese lying at the bottom of Serie A, the Chilean might consider a move to Old Trafford if a proposition comes by. With Rafael still learning the game, Sir Alex might want to bring in the 22 year old to strengthen his defence.
Blaise Matuidi (Saint-Etienne):
The 20 year old defensive midfielder is attracting attention from the likes of Juventus, Seville, Liverpool, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund but the player has said that he would prefer a move to Premier League as it better suits his game.
The youngster was an Arsenal target last summer and Arsene Wenger might again want to take his chances on the midfielder who made his debut for Bosnia and Herzegovina this September.
Other players who might move on:
Nuri Sahin (Borussia Dortmund) has been catching the eye of many English clubs and Arsenal are reportedly interested in the German international.
Michel Bastos (Lyon) has been great for Lyon since his arrival there in 2008 and is reportedly weighing a move to Liverpool.
David Beckham (LA Galaxy) just like last season might want to make a move to Europe as the MLS season is drawing to a close. This time, the former Manchester United poster-boy would prefer moving to England rather than A.C. Milan where he
spent his last two (half) seasons on loan in a bid to get back in Fabio Capello’s England squad plans.
Landon Donovan (LA Galaxy) had a successful loan spell at Everton last season and was an instant hit there. He would want to make a move back to the Merseyside but Newcastle United are also reportedly interested in the American striker as
they are without Hatem Ben Arfa until March.
Jesus Navas (Seville) has been in top form for the past 4 seasons. With Seville in deep trouble this season, he might want to make a move in Spain with the likes of Valencia and Atletico Madrid reportedly interested in the 24 year old Spanish
international.
Ronaldinho (A.C. Milan) has been called back to the Brazil squad but he is weighing up offers from MLS with the likes of LA Galaxy, Real Salt Lake City and New York Red Bulls interested in getting the 3 time Ballon d’Or winners’ signature.
