Top-45 players on the European Challenge Tour ready for the Grand Final
The European Challenge Tour season is finally coming to rest at the end of this week’s Apulia San Domenico Grand Final, where the top-45 players in the rankings will be contending for glory.
A number of players will be aiming to displace Kristoffer Broberg from the top spot in the rankings, while others will try to make it into the top-20, to earn their European Tour cards.
Magnus A Carlsson, who has already secured his European Tour card by listing among the top-100 in The Race to Dubai, now eyes the top spot in Challenge Tour Rankings.
He currently lies at the fourth position, entering the Grand Final and certainly has the chance of making it to the top.
However, he will have to work really hard, as it will not be an easy job for him to challenge his compatriot Broberg, who is currently enjoying a scintillating form on the tour.
Broberg has won a total of four tournaments in just six starts. He earned his first victory in his second appearance on the tour – the Finnish Challenge.
He then recorded victories in the Norwegian Challenge and the Rolex Trophy to make it to the European Tour.
After spending some time on the bigger stage, he returned to the Challenge Tour and added another title to his resume by winning the Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Challenge hosted by Royal Golf Club.
The victory also moved him to the top of the rankings, which he now plans to retain till the end of the season.
“The goal is now to win the Rankings, and there’s no reason why I can’t do it because I’m playing so well,” said Broberg. “It has been an absolute dream to win four times. I just have fun out there and enjoy it”.
Taking a look at the current standings will reveal that each of the top-10 players in the Challenge Tour Rankings has a chance of making it to the top by recording a victory in the tournament.
The second-placed Andreas Hartø is confident to end his season on a high note by taking home his second Challenge Tour title of the season.
“It’s definitely a goal to win the Rankings,” he said. “Thomas Bjørn is the only other Danish guy to have done it so to follow in his footsteps would be great”.
