okay since it is one week away and now that the most important tier 1 and masters tourney's are over,what are your official contenders for RG? and that includes dark horses.

for the women:

quite honestly,any one of the top 5 women can take the title.

Youre picks are pretty much solid, but I would change just a few things...

Women:

1.) Serena Williams

2.) Maria Sharapova

3.) Jelena Jankovic

4.) Dinara Safina

5.) Ana Ivanovic

Dark horse: Alize Cornet

Serena can win, it all depends on her play...if she is really giving it her all or not.  Maria is the next choice for a winner...her game has been the most solid of any player this year and doesn't appear to be dropping anytime soon.  Jankovic has to have major confidence...but she doesn't always have the most consistent game play.  Safina has been the giant killer of the clay court season...she'll at least reach the quarters.  And Ivanovic is the defending finalist...should play well unless she has another unexpected lose to some up and comer.  Alize Cornet is the best clay court player to not win a title this year...She reached two major semifinals and last week lost in the finals...I would say a good chance at a fourth round finish.

Men:

Dark horse: ????

The men's tournament should hold true to seeding into the semifinals...I would expect Nadal to win again, but there is a good chance that Djokovic could pick up his second straight grand slam title...No one else really has a great chance to win.

My Dark Horse: Dinara Safina

Jelena is everyone's favourite...Serena is in ABSOLUTE touch this season..i don't think her 'stuck back' which forced her to withdraw out of semis against Cornet in Rome..is gonna trouble her for more than 3 days...Sharapova is A TRUE FIGHTER ON CLAY...She can claw herself back out of every possible situation.plus if she wins at RG..she will complete a career Grand Slam..Elena Dementieva...Her experience WILL COUNT....Anna Chakvetadze...this girl seems to be amazingly talented..

The reason i chose to throw out svetlana out of list is that..she simply out of form this season..last year she had some great results which included beating Henin on clay...though she has second best game on clay after Henin..i don't think she will go further than QFs...Ana IVanovic is also not a contender...she is simply too-inexperienced..she is young...and her recent results on clay aren't too great...

I don't have any other contender..this list is limited to just 4..David Ferrer is not close to where he should be

My Dark Horse..: MARAT SAFIN...He seems to have got his lost touch back..he qualified for Hamburg..and then stretched Moya to 3 sets...in 3rd round...Fernnado Verdasco can also cause some big UPSETS..watch out for this one..
