  1. Mariners-didnt make any trades except one pointless trade of reliever arthur rhodes. They didnt trade adrian beltre or Raul ibanez when they had the chance. They didnt agree to the yankees offer of just taken washburns contract from them freeing the mariners from some money. They acted like they still have a chance this season when they are th worst team in baseball.

Marlins-didnt get manny when they had the chance, are to cheap to take on his contract. Wonder why they keep begging for a new stadium and dont have alot of fans

DBACKS-missed out of Mark texiera which would have gave them a big bat to compete against the dodgers new big threat manny ramirez

REDS-gave up ken griffey jr for nobody great(got ripped off)

Red Sox-traded manny and two young quality players for Jason Bay. I think they could of gotton a way better player than jason bay for Manny if they would have just kept him, and traded him in the off-season

  2. Red Sox

    Red Sox

    Red Sox

    Red Sox

    Red Sox

  3. 1.The Giants. They wanted to deal their veteran players so that the young players could possibly develop in the majors. They have been showcasing their veterans all year long, and finally the day the Giants' fans have been looking forward to this whole year comes and passes and NOTHING happened. I'm so close to boycotting this team. It seems like trading Ray Durham was supposed to help a lot, but that was in itself a horrible trade, yea we finally got Durham off our hands, but we picked up an outfielder and a pitcher...something we have a surplus of!!!!! The Twins offered Boof Bonser for Rich Aurilia, I would take that anyday just to dump Aurilia's contract, plus the Giants system is good with pitchers(besides Zito). Randy Winn could have been traded to multiple teams, but for some reason, Mr. Sabean thinks the Giants have a chance to win in 2009. Today he said that now the trade deadline has passed and the first 4 months were to showcase the veterans it is time for the young players to play. If this isn't the case and I see people like Vizquel Roberts and the awful Jose Castillo,  I will boycott the team. The whole front office should be replaced with capable people.

    2. Mariners. Good you guys got rid of Richie Sexson and even though you are paying his fat contract he doesnt have to stink up the dugout. There is just one huge problem staring right at them, but they are pretending that their isn't an elephant in the room, yet he is plopped on the couch watching the Angels run away with the AL West. Jarrod Washburn, Adrian Beltre, Raul Ibanez, Jose Vidro, Kenji Jojihma and JJ Putz shouldn't even be on the team anymore. Both Washburn and Jojihma could have bean dealt to the Yankees, Beltre would have gone to the awful Giants, Ibanez to the Mets, Vidro to who cares, and Putz to the Brewers. The Mariners are the worst team in the MLB, yet they fail to realize it.

    3. Dodgers. Yah they got Manny and his ego and his contract and his ineffectiveness in the outfield, and his hair, and his skull cap and his anger..need I say more? The Dodgers sure got a great hitter, but seriously they needed bullpen help more than anything. They will probably win the NL West, but they won't get far in the playoffs.

    4. Diamondbacks. You had a chance to get Mark Teixeira, you passed  because you didn't want to give up Connor Jackson, umm bad move. The Diamondbacks have the pitching, all they needed was the hitting, and well they now aren't going to get it. As for the Angels they will go deep into the playoffs.

    5. Rays. As the Yankees and Red Sox made big moves, the Rays who have a inexperience when it comes to division title races remained the same inexperienced team. Sure they are the feel good story of the year, but they needed to big up a veteran reliever to shore up that bull pen. I'm pretty sure Jack Taschner of the Giants who is having a great year was available, but the Rays passed.

Those are my 5 losers for this years trade deadline.

Edit: Takashi Saito is injured, they needed someone to replace him. I'm not making it up, it's been all over the internet. "GM Ned Colletti was unable to shore up a bullpen depleted by the injury to closer Takashi Saito" http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=sh...

  4. elias

they need bullpen help? they have one of the best bullpens which is why they are in contention in the first place. their biggest need was a power bat and middle infield depth. They got one with Manny Ramirez. Bench Jones and platoon Pierre and Ethier. dodgers have the best ERA in the NL.

  5. 1-Mets--once again they want to play like contenders, but only fooling themselves. They are in dire need of pitching, not to mention another bat couldnt hurt, and what did they do?

2- Boston---ok, Manny is an immature, selfish guy, his problem, choice. But the team is struggling as is, just lost a key series against Angels, and even though they want peace in the locker room, with 50 games to play, now wasnt the time to rid him. They put up with him all this time, whats 50 more games?

3- Dodgers---for picking up Manny lol. well sort of. They have been playing well as of late, they certainly dont need any negativity surrounding them.

4- Yankees----though they were smart to pick up Pudge ( being Posada is having surgery), they didnt acquire any decent additional arms. But why not?

5- Pitt....they send Nady to Yankees, and now Bay to Boston. That leaves them with....who...McClouth? he cant do it all alone and certainly not in lead off spot. Grant it, they arent contending this season, yet still. This isnt how you build a team.

  6. Astros - Do I really need to explain why a team considered FOURTH BEST in the division doesn't need to be buyers for the likes of Randy Wolf at the deadline?

Rays - Having an excess of talented youth in your farm system is always a good problem to have, but sooner or later there are going to be logjams. h**l, there already is with pitching. They could've had Bay or Griffey if they wanted, yet they stood pat. The lack of veteran players on that team will hurt them in September/October. Their cross-state rivals recognized the need for veterans come October, and that's why they have two World Series rings to their names.

D-backs - Jon Rauch? Come on, he's a nice addition to the bullpen, but they needed hitting, and their farm system was good enough to make a deal. They can't wait forever for that youth to start producing.

Reds - As much as I like them trading Griffey, they should've ditched Dunn as well while he's in his prime. Surely there would be some bidders, and he's a free agent this offseason who will likely command a monster contract. The Reds can't afford a player like that.

Mariners - Wait; this team IS in rebuilding mode, right? Unfortunately, nothing they've done so far reflects that. The fact that Washburn, Beltre, and Ibanez are still on the team is a disgrace.

  7. Cardinals

    White Sox

    Diamondbacks

    Padres

    Nationals

  8. Braves - Giving up Tex for so little.

D-Backs - Being stupid and not trading for Tex (even if it meant giving up CoJack)

Indians - Not trading for a quality starter.

and I cant reall think of any more. I think it was in the Red Sox best interest to trade Manny. It was time for them to part ways. The Red Sox will be okay without him.

  9. 1) Cardinals

You have both the teams ahead of them going out and acquiring big time players while the Cardinals stand pat. They are very much in this race but they have overachieved greatly all year and are short in depth at every position. With Mulder going down and Wainwright and Carpenter not in top form it was definitely questionable to not make a move.

    2) Red Sox

They weakened their team by trading Manny Ramirez and hurt David Ortiz by taking away his main protection. Bay hits .216 with RISP opposed to Manny who hits .309. They did not acquire any relief help and in fact traded a talented young reliever and decent outfielder in the trade along with paying Manny's salary. Their hand was forced but it cripples their team.

    3) Seattle

What are you doing holding on to these players? You are a terrible team and are going nowhere fast. Their ridiculous hold up in trading Washburn cost them a huge salary coming off their hands and Ibanez and Beltre could have netted them significant prospects if they weren't insane in their demands. Seattle has no direction as a franchise and is going nowhere fast while being tied by these contracts .

    4) Arizona

They are a very flawed team but miraculously on top of their division while playing .500 ball. They are short an arm in the pen and especially short on offense. They have tons of prospects they could have dealt, and Rauch is not the answer in the pen. Teixiera would have been huge for them.

    5) Mets

There are so many question marks on their team. Their bullpen especially is atrocious, and there are depth issues especially in the outfield. They could have definitely used another bullpen arm.

  10. N.Y. Mets.

Why didn't we get Xavier Nady? Why didn't we try harder for Manny? Why didn't we get Pudge Rodriguez, especially if the Tigers practically gave him away? (oh, I read that Pudge WANTED to be a Yankee, so never mind that last one)

WHY DIDN'T WE GET ANYONE? WHY IS AARON HEILMAN STILL ON THE TEAM?

We NEED outfield help. Chavez and Tatis are playing well, but it's not enough. Church has concussion syndrome, and Moises Alou is 100 years old.

    Omar Moronaya is a horse's ***!
