5.the big oscar robinson mr.triple double

i know the kobe haters are gonna hate that hes at 2,but the guy deserves it,hes #2 maybe even #1 when hes done with his career.but thats a big maybe.

russell does not belong on this list,he wasnt even the best player of his era or even his postion for that matter.wilt was.i put the big o over bird b/c bird never averaged a triple double for a hwole season.he also almost hdid it again where he was .3 assist per game one season.so beat that bird.hes the most underated player in nba history, also chalres barkley is very underated too.

  1. OK lets get this clear, Kobe is not even the best player of his era. Shaq and Duncan tie at this rate, LeBron has the next bit.

    1. Michael Jordan

    2. Magic Johnson

    3. Wilt Chamberlain

    4. Larry Bird

    5. Bill Russell

    6. Oscar Robertson

I respect the big O but I just can't resist taking someone with 11 championships and someone who averaged over 20 rebounds a game over him, he was the greatest winner in basketball, defense and leadership was how he won it.

  9. Wow top five of all time.

Well, I'll go with exciting, players that drew people to the TV.

Here's the top 5 in that regard, not in any particular order and again, just exciting to see.

Agree with me or not, I don't care, but these players I watched because I always wanted to see what they would do next. I won't comment on players before them because I never got to see them live, only in highlights (get a good editor and you could look good to).

    Magic

    MJ

    Dominique

    Kobe

    Vince Carter

  10. 1 - Bill Russell

    2 - Michael Jordan

    3 - Kareem Abdul Jabbar

    4 - Wilt Chamberlain

    5 - Magic Johnson/ Larry Bird

  11. You said that you didn't put Russell there because he wasn't even the best player of his era.

FYI, Wilt (who came up in the 1959-60 season) and Oscar (rookie year was 1960-61) were two guys from the same era.  They obviously couldn't have BOTH been the "best player" from their era.

If Wilt was the best player from that era, why is Oscar on your list?  Obviously, according to your "logic", Oscar wasn't the best player in HIS era either.

In addition to the titles and his winning percentage, Russell won FIVE MVP awards (Wilt won 4).

When Wilt averaged 50 ppg during the 1962 season, Russell held him to 22 points in game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals.   Sounds like Russell had to be doing SOMETHING right.

If you think Kobe is better than both Magic and Bird, you obviously haven't studied NBA history for very long.  And you definitely never saw Bird play basketball.

But a previous answer is correct...Kobe isn't even a top five LAKER of all time, let alone a top five player in NBA history.

Oscar actually averaged a triple double (career wise) for his first five NBA seasons combined.  He did it in an individual season only once, but his career numbers for his first five years were 30+ ppg and over 10 reb/game and over 10 asst/game.

Russell was the greatest defensive player of all time, and was also the smartest player in the history of the NBA... by far.

There would BE no all-defensive team if it wasn't for Russell... the all-defensive team was created in 1969 precisely because of Russell's impact on the game.

I wish I could recommend a good book on NBA history for you to read, but there aren't any of those out there, so I'm afraid you're stuck.

It's not Kobe haters who made you say that.  It's the part of your brain that's still working that made you say it.
