Top 50 players of the 2010/11 Serie A season: Part One. 50-46
The 2010/11 Serie A came to an end after providing never ending drama, shocks, tears and lots of goals. It has been a turbulent ride this season but a greatly enjoyable one, with a wonderful display of glossy Italian football. The season was never short
of enthralling moments; from Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini’s venomous decisions to Kevin Prince Boateng’s moonwalk, the Calcio faithful were kept on the edge of their seats.
A.C Milan claimed their 19th Scudetto but had to wait for seven years for the title victory. Former Champions, Inter Milan, managed to finish second after a frustrating start to the campaign. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Walter-c36580 Mazzarri’s Napoli finished third to qualify
for the UEFA Champions League after 21 years. Fight for the fourth spot witnessed a great battle between Lazio, Udinese and A.S http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 and after a see-saw battle, the Bianconeri prevailed with a fourth spot finish. Sampdoria had a terrible season on all fronts
and saw themselves relegated to the Serie B along with Brescia and Bari.
Some really impressive individual performances were witnessed in the current campaign and Bettor.com now takes a look at the top 50 players of the season.
50. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stephan-Lichtsteiner-c34101 (SS Lazio)
The Swiss international enjoyed his best season since joining Lazio in 2008 and played a huge role in guiding the club to a UEFA Europa League place. The right-back was a model of reliability and his attacking and defensive abilities gave tough time to the
oppositions.
49. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Zanetti-c18096 (Inter Milan)
The 37-year-old is still bundles of energy on the field and even at this age, he runs more than anybody else on the pitch. The versatile star is still a first team regular for the Nerazzurri and has rarely put a foot wrong this season. The Argentine made
49 appearances for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 this season and scored two goals including a strike against Tottenham Hotspur in the group stages of the UEFA Champions League, which made him the oldest player to score in the competition’s history.
48. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dejan-Stankovic-c10793 (Inter Milan)
The 32-year-old did not have a consistent run in the recent campaign but he was an influential figure to lift the team after an early season crisis. The Serbian’s versatility in the midfield helped the club a great deal when the stars were missing. The former
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 star appeared on 35 occasions this season and scored 8 goals. He scored an amazing goal in the Champions League quarter-final against Schalke 04, when his 40-yard first time volley found the back of the net.
47. Domenico Criscito (Genoa)
The 24-year-old had a wonderful campaign and has arguably established himself as one of the best left-backs in the country. Apart from one gloomy incident in the season, when he was shown a straight card against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003, the defender has had a bright season.
He also earned a call-up to the Italian national team in reward to his sound performances for the club. Despite wholesale tactical switches made by Genoa this season, Criscito adjusted successfully to all systems.

46. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Davide-Astori-c10639 (Cagliari)
Astori has had a wonderful 2010/11 season and has been widely tipped as a defender of the next generation. Milan will be ruing the decision to sell the promising defender, who emerged from their youth ranks. His sound performances as a centre-back have earned
him a call-up to the Italian National team this year and the 23-year-old made his international debut against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-Cannavaro-c13164, but he needs to keep a cool head on the pitch
if he wants his career to flourish.
