Top Batsmen Younis Khan neglected by Pakistan Cricket Board
Pakistan cricket has been the going through the thick and thins of life. Never has http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket been out of controversies. From the tour of Australia to the latest match fixing scandal.
It all started during the last tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746. Pakistan was hammered by Australia in all the three formats. The Sydney Test was a prime example of how badly Pakistan performed in Australia. After being in a commanding position they gave away the match.
A lot of questions were asked after that tour. Did Pakistan perform badly deliberately? Players were banned after that ill-fated tour. Younis Khan and Mohammad Yousuf were banned for in definite periods of time, Rana Naved and Shoaib Malik were banned for one year and the Akmal brothers were put on probation periods.
Younis Khan took the captaincy from Shoaib Malik in 2009. Younis scored a triple hundred against Sri Lanka in his first Test match as captain. Younis Khan afterwards led Pakistan to their first T20 World Cup victory in England.
During Pakistan’s tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in-fighting began to affect Pakistan’s performance. Players deliberately started to underperform to lose the match. Players didn’t want Younis to captain the team. In the first two Test matches the team snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
In the Champions Trophy, Pakistan started off well and reached the semi final of the tournament. The team started to cook conspiracy theories against Younis and allegedly took an oath against Younis at Inzimam Ul Haq’s house. All the senior members were involved including the manager of the team Yawar Saeed.
In the series against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi, it seemed the third Test match was deliberately lost. Younis made a complaint against the team and manager of the Pakistan cricket team. PCB didn’t take notice.
Younis resigned as captain and pulled out of the New Zealand tour. Mohammad Yousuf took over the captaincy. They drew with New Zealand 1-1. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 tour was then followed by the Australian tour, which was a dismal story. Younis then returned to the side in the ODI’s against Australia, but he looked out of sorts in that series.
PCB has lifted Younis http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319’s indefinite ban a while ago, but they did not select him for the England tour, and are still not considering Younis Khan for selection.
Younis Khan, who has been playing for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Surrey-c851, a county in England, and scoring runs for them, feels that he is in a good nick. Younis said. “I am feeling fit, my physical and mental condition is good, and I am ready to play for Pakistan”.
Considering Pakistan’s dismal batting shows in England it is obvious that Pakistan need Younis Khan in the team. It will not only strengthen their batting line-up but also their slip fielding.
Younis Khan has scored 5260 runs in 63 Test matches at an excellent average of 50 with the best of 313. Younis has also scored 5765 runs in 202 ODI’s at an average of 32. Younis is one of the four batsmen from Pakistan to have a test average of 50. He is the third Pakistani to score a triple century.
If we look at Younis Khan’s record against England, he has scored 591 runs in 7 test matches at 45 against them. On English soil he has scored 470 runs in 5 matches at 50, with a best of 173.
Pakistan selection committee’s chairman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohsin-c77587 Hassan Khan, says, “He will select players on the basis of their performances, fitness and clarity from the cricket board”. Why was Shoaib Malik selected in the first place? Why was Yousuf sent for the 2nd Test? The Selection committee should really rethink their strategies.
It seems Younis Khan not being selected is more of a personal matter between him and Pakistan Cricket Board chairman. He is just not considering Younis Khan for selection, who is the country’s best number 3 batsmen after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zaheer-Abbas-c98435.
PCB needs to act professionally and should start thinking about Pakistan’s interests.
