I am traveling to Europe for the first time and we have decided to go to the southern portion of Spain. We have already decided to go to Madrid, Granada, Seville and Toledo. Out of these cities which two should we go to? Malaga, Cadiz, Marbella, Cordoba?

  1. Cadiz is not bad but I would suggest to go to Barcelona, this is the city to visit, so beautiful!!!!!!!!!

  2. Marbella, it's a rich and famous port (Puerto Banuz) and you will see beautiful places and people. Make your visit brief because it's one of those things you just have to see(people bringing their rolls on their yachts,11yr old's with gold Rolex, etc)Try to make it to Cadiz and and go to Tarifa you will LOVE it there it's wind surfing capital of the world, the town is small and full of life and you can walk on the beach and see Africa it's amazing, I love it there.

  3. Cadiz, i heard its amazing!

  4. BARCELONA!!! barcelona is amazing, it has architecture (gaudi) art, culture, live music, nightlife, the beach- everything!! also figueres and cadaques are nice to the north if you are a fan of Salvador dali. that's where his museum and house is.

  5. Corboda definitely it's on the way from Madrid to Seville, La Mesquita not to be missed. Cadiz and Malaga if you have time.

Cadiz is the oldest city in Europe. Ronda is another great place to visit in the SOUTH (amazing how people don't answer your question!) The reason given for visting Marabella is the reason it's not high on my list, I'm not a jet setter. I can't afford to hang out with a bunch of Sheiks.

YOu can take the AVE fast train from Madrid to Corboda (2 hours) and continue on to Seville

  6. Okay, you've already hit the top spots.  If you can spare a day, try to get to Segovia from Madrid.

Córdoba can be done as a day trip from Sevilla,  Cádiz is very nice, and Jerez de la Frontera is number one on my "STILL haven't made it, but not for lack of trying" list.  Jerez is especially for the Sherry Bodegas.  I recommend González Byass, because they make the best Fino in the world...Not just MHO, but a pretty much undisputed fact in Spain. If you're not into Sherry, it's not much worth the trip...I've been trying to get there since 1981, and missed it this last trip, because, as usual, I planned that day and it turned out to be (yet another) national holiday.

If you have time, skip the beaches unless you're a major beach person (and I recommend the Atlantic over the completely overbuilt Costa del Sol) and go inland to Ronda.  Much prettier and more historic than Málaga and Marbella.

    (again, imho).

If you go to Barcelona, be careful of ANY crowded places.  Lots of pickpockets.  You should beware in Madrid, as well.

  7. I am assuming that Madrid, Granada, Sevilla and Toledo are the definites and the last four options are what you are asking about.  If that is the case, definitely Cordoba (most famous for its "Mezquita") and then I suppose Cadiz - if I had to choose two out of those four.  It also depends on what you are looking to do on the trip.  if it is pure (or mostly) sightseeing (which most first-time visitors aim for), then definitely Cordoba, but frankly, Malaga and Marbella you could skip if you are tight on time as they are predominantly resort towns.  Don't get me wrong, I love Spain (I go almost every year for the past 20 years and have family there) and those are nice cities, but if time is limited and you are looking for traditional sightseeing, I would definitely include Cordoba and add some more time to Madrid, Toledo, Sevilla and Granada.  If possible, I would add Segovia as well.  Buen viaje!!

  8. I would go to Barcelona.  There are a bunch of neat things to see and do there.  There's La Sagrada Familia (that's been over a hundred years in the making), the Gaudí artwork in Parc Güell, La Rambla, Picasso museum, and a bunch more.

I had a great time there.

  9. Ten top destinations in Spain and Portugal:

Madrid/Toledo, Sevilla, Granada, Lisboa, Porto/Coimbra, Barcelona, Salamanca, Evora, Cordoba, Avila/Segovia

  10. Good choices

if you have time, you can also go in Salamanca

As near from Madrid like Toledo (...my English is very bad, sorry.....), you have Segovia

Don't go to Malag, Marbella, Cadiz : you will loose time for nothing !

Cordoba is nice, but just 1 day is enough

You don't plane to go to Barcelona ??

If you have time, & if you love countryside : the Nort cost (Atlantic) is very very beautiful !!
