Top European Ladies Tour players tied for the lead in first round of Deloitte Ladies Open
The first round of the Deloitte ladies Open at Golfclub Broekpolder in Rotterdam is underway and no less than 11 players are in contention for the top slot while many are still to complete their first nine holes.
Three players; Christine Hallstrom, Clare Queen and Holly Aitchison have made the turn after their first nine hole scores of one-under at the scenic Rotterdam course. Sweden’s Hallstrom stumbled on a bogey at Par-5, third hole, but went ahead to card two
birdies before making the turn. Scotland’s Queen also carded two birdies but fell in for two bogeys and is also in contention for the lead.
Diana Luna and Becky Brewerton both carded splendid birdies in their front nine and look to be in splendid form to grab the lead. Luna has already won a tournament in the season. Aitchison showed extraordinary putting in her front nine when she carded four
birdies, but stumbled with a bogey on par-4, 7th and a disastrous double bogey at par-three, 9th. Cassandra Kirkland, Felicity Johnson, Anja Monke, Melissa Reid, Rachel Bell and Sahra Hassan are all one-under for the moment.
Turkish Airlines Ladies Open winner, Christel Boeljon started off with her back nine and stumbled with a nightmare bogey on Par-3, 13th where she shot four over on the single hole. She finished the hole with a whooping four-over which took the
toll on her overall score of level par for the back nine. She carded four birdies to make up for the terrible loss. The young Dutchwoman finished for second place in last week’s Allianz Ladies Slovak Open and is currently on top of the Henderson’s Money List.
The €250,000 event has a winner's share of €37,500 and the tournament sponsors have designated a luxurious BMW 640i Convertible for the hole-in-one at Par-3, 16th.
Golfclub Broekpolder provides a unique blend of peace and solitude in the centre of thriving European Metropolis of Rotterdam and the morning turned out to be a warm one, with a fair breeze blowing off the course.
