Top German duo Georg Grozer, Ferdinand Tille attends FIVB heroes event in Frankfurt
German city Frankfurt hosted a colourful volleyball event on Tuesday, which was attended by two key players of German National volleyball team.
Georg Grozer and Ferdinand Tille showed up at the FIVB Heroes event, which put the two players to a test of their skills. A machine was installed at the pedestrian area of Frankfurt that produced shots at the speed of 130Km/h. The two FIVB Heroes were required
to the deal with the speed bombs produced by the ball-firing machine. Both of them proved the metal of their forearms and did pretty well. They received a whole lot of applause from the audience for their terrific job.
Large number of fans, which included students and people in general, gathered at the venue. In addition to the Grozer and Tille, the attendees of the event were also invited to try their luck. The local organiser offered free tickets for the first round
of 2012 FIVB World League to the participants, who made best moves.
The FIVB Heroes event also featured a press conference. Taking advantage of the opportunity, the Head Coach of German national team Vital Heynen disclosed his thoughts and talked about the future goals of team.
He stated, “The German men’s team has great potential. Following our bitter defeat to Italy on Sunday [in the CEV Men’s Continental Olympic Qualification Tournament], we are now looking optimistically towards Berlin. In front of a home crowd and with the
support of the fans, our motivation to book that ticket to London is huge.”
Alongside the coach Vital Heynen, the two players also shared a few things. They discussed what it takes to be a good volleyball player and why it is so essential to be active – both on the court and in everyday life.
In this regards, Tille commented, “Volleyball is a very energetic and powerful sport. As a libero, I am constantly under attack during a game. It’s a big responsibility I have for the team performance, but one I am happy to shoulder.”
The FIVB Heroes event served as a sort of practice session for German players before the start of FIVB World League.
The 2012 FIVB World League will take centre start on May 18. Germany will be grouped alongside Argentina, Bulgaria, and Portugal in Pool D. According to the set formula of the competition, the Pool D competitions will start on May 25 and Germany will host
the first week matches. Fraport arena in Frankfurt will provide the backdrop for the competition. Hence, the current practice will surely benefit the German players to showcase better performance at the World League matches.
In the next run, the more of the FIVB Heroes will join the on-going event. Facundo Conte from Argentina and Matey Kaziyskiy from Bulgaria will show up on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
