Top Intercontinental Wrestling Champions – 11th to 15th positions

The golden belt of the Intercontinental Championship is considered one of the most prestigious belts in the world of professional wrestling. Most wrestlers who held the belt went on to become the WWE Champions or the World Heavyweight Champions later in their career. WWE has compiled a rankings list which includes the best Intercontinental champions of all time, with Randy Savage on 1st position, Chris Jericho on 2nd, Ultimate Warrior on 3rd, Mr. Perfect on 4th, Pat Patterson on 5th, Honky Tonk Man on 6th, Razor Ramon on 7th, Bret “The Hit Man” Hart on 8th, Pedro Morales on 9th, and Randy Orton on 10th position.

It is the “Ravishing” Rick Rude who is on the 11th position in the WWE wrestling rankings. Rick Rude, who became unpopular in professional wrestling because of his arrogant attitude, only managed to grab the Intercontinental title belt once during his career. Rick Rude won the Intercontinental title when he defeated the famous Ultimate Warrior at Wrestle Mania V. Rick Rude then managed to defend the title for 148 consecutive days before losing it to Ultimate Warrior. Even the fans who hated Rick Rude appreciated the long title defence and the fighting skills of the wrestler.

It is time to play the “Game”, as it is “Triple H” who is ranked as the 12th best Intercontinental wrestler of all time. Triple H is considered one of the best fighters in WWE, and has the record of becoming the WWE champion for 13 times. Triple H grabbed the Intercontinental title 5 times during his wrestling career, starting from 1996. Triple H fought many remarkable battles with the likes of Jeff Hardy and Kane to win the Intercontinental belt. Triple H brought new prestige to the Intercontinental title when he defeated Kane at No Mercy 2002 to unify his World Heavyweight Championship with Kane’s Intercontinental title.

He is the “Show-Stopper”, the “Main Event”, the “Heartbreak Kid”; he is Shawn Michaels, who is the 13th best Intercontinental wrestler of all time. Shawn Michaels became the Intercontinental champion for three times during his storied career. His ladder matches with Razor Ramon will go down as the best matches in the history of professional wrestling. However, it is a pity that most of the Intercontinental reigns of Shawn Michaels ended in controversy.

The Rated-R Superstar has cemented his name in all areas of wrestling by becoming the 14th best Intercontinental champion of all time. In 1999, Edge defeated Jeff Jarrett to grab his first Intercontinental belt. This was the start of a long and controversial career for Edge. Edge, who has not retired from the wrestling world, held the Intercontinental title 5 times during his career. Edge fought with many great wrestlers like Randy Orton and Christian to become the undisputed Intercontinental champion in WWE.

Robert Alexander "Rob" Szatkowski is the kind of wrestler who is always loved by the wrestling fans. Known by his ring name Rob Van Dam (or RVD), he is regarded as the 15th best Intercontinental champion of all time. Rob Van Dam, who currently fights in TNA, won the Intercontinental Championship 6 times during his stay in WWE. However, Rob Van Dam was able to achieve something which no one could ever do in the history of professional wrestling. Rob Van Dam pinned the European champion Jeff Hardy and the Hardcore champion Tommy Dreamer and combined their championships with his Intercontinental title in 2002. This act brought greater prestige and authenticity to his belt.

Many young wrestlers come and go, and end their careers in (at times vain) pursuit of the prestigious championship, but the above mentioned wrestlers are truly the top Intercontinental wrestlers of all time.
