Since Iraq has finally given us an ultimatum to get out of their country, NOW we decide to move more troops into Afghanistan? Isn't that where Osama Bin Laden and Al Quaeda were from the start, and not in Iraq? I thought this "war" was supposed to be in retaliation for 9/11? I mean that's what our President told us. You mean we have been in the wrong country all along?

  1. Your rhetoric would of been good about a year ago dude..This is old news, but you go with it as if it just happened today..

  2. Iraq was a disastrous, stupid, costly and completely unnecessary detour from the proper course of the war on terror.  It's damaged our economy and wasted the lives of 25,000 or so American service men and women.

I applaud the shift of focus back to Afghanistan, but I deplore the waste of our blood and our treasure in Iraq for no good cause.

    Great question!

  3. The marines have been trying to get out of Iraq for a while and let the army clean it up.

  4. No, the shift of Marines to Afghanistan has been happening for a while now.  Thanks for joining the rest of us.

  5. I'm not. are you?

When the war ended in Europe, they were going to move every available man and piece of equipment to the Pacific. The Atom bomb kept that from having to happen.

  6. We went where our greatest interests were: THE OIL!

From the 1990s until 2003, the international trade embargo restricted Iraq’s export activity almost exclusively to oil. In 2003 oil accounted for about US$7.4 billion of Iraq’s total US$7.6 billion of export value, and statistics for earlier years showed similar proportions. After the end of the trade embargo in 2003 expanded the range of exports, oil continued to occupy the dominant position: in 2004 Iraq’s export income doubled (to US$16.5 billion), but oil accounted for all but US$340 million (2 percent) of the total. In late 2004, sabotage significantly reduced oil output, and experts forecast that output, hence exports, would be below capacity in 2005 as well. In 2004 the chief export markets were the United States (which accounted for nearly half), Italy, France, Jordan, Canada, and the Netherlands. In 2004 the value of Iraq’s imports was US$21.7 billion, incurring a trade deficit of about US$5.2 billion. In 2003 the main sources of Iraq’s imports were Turkey, Jordan, Vietnam, the United States, Germany, and Britain. Because of Iraq’s inactive manufacturing sector, the range of imports was quite large, including food, fuels, medicines, and manufactured goods.

  7. Maybe you should pay attention to events in Iraq.  The Iraqi government has taken over security for the Anbar province from the Marines.  As a result those Marines are no longer needed there.

The Al Queda fled Iraq and went to Afghanistan - so now the Marines are going to where their 'customers' are.

  8. Your kidding? It's amazing how un educated people are about their own country. Let me put this to you briefly.

9-11 resulting in US counterstrike within 24 hours.

We have been in Afghanistan this entire time (7 years) taking down Afghanistan's top personnel one at a time.

Operation Iraqi Freedom- began with evidence of WMD's. Saddam stating he had them and wasn't afraid to use them. We have satellites watching every country in the world do you really think we have false evidence? The UN and US inspection showed nothing but we knew they had them. We invaded took out Saddam and his insurgents and are now freeing Iraqi's from their h**l. Two different conflicts, but all the same war. The War on Terror.

For the guy above me please tell me where you got your information that we have lost 25,000 troops. That's a lie try about 4,000 in the combined conflicts. Better yet tell me how many people die from gang violence in 4 years and compare it to our work in Iraq.
