Top NASCAR champion, but with a few exceptions.?

Since Richard Petty and Dale Sr are in a class of there own, outside one of those two, who would you say is the best past champ?

Also: Who would be the best driver that has never won a cup, but you cannot choose Mark Martin?

  1. this is hard because there are a lot of greats and i would have to choose jeff gordon... he is closest to earnhardt and petty in wins and top 5 and everything... and i have to go with my boy junior for best driver without a championship, except for the past couple of years he was doing really well sort of how kyle is doing this year, he was amazing and then hit a rough patch maybe he can be a surprise championship winner this year

  4. Jeff Gordon is the best past champion besides the two you have listed and the best driver not to win a championship was Davey Allison(RIP), came close but no title.

  6. Bobby LaBonte for past championship because he is just a Class Act no matter what people try to throw at him, or say about him.

    Jeff Burton for no championship for basically the same reason. Class Act!

    Mark Martin  is still my choice even if I can`t choose him.

    Why are you taking Mark out of the equation anyway, is it because everybody in the right frame of mind that knows anything about racing would choose him .

  10. Terry Labonte for past champ. Maybe not one of the winningest past champs with a career spanning 20 years but a superb gentleman and a class act.

    Davey Allison, best driver (besides Mark) to never win a cup. Taken before his time or IMO he would of been a cup champ.
