Top NFL draft prospects invited to New York for Draft Day - NFL Special
The National Football League (NFL) drafts are fast closing in with the first round taking place on Thursday, April 26th.
It will be a big event for the watching NFL fans as they see which of the top prospects their team signs for the new 2012-13 season.
The drafts though will hold an even bigger significance for the 26 players who have been invited to by the NFL to Radio City Music Hall in New York where the showcase event will take place.
So who are these lucky 26 players who will be making the trip that will become one of their most important in their new career?
Andrew Luck
The draft would not be complete without the youngster who is being touted by many scouts and analysts as the new Peyton Manning.
Luck from Stanford University is projected to go as the first pick in the drafts to the Indianapolis Colts who released Peyton Manning during the offseason.
The young quarterback’s big reputation is not undeserved as he broke multiple Stanford University records during his time there.
In 2011, Luck threw a massive 37-touchdown passes and was the runner up for the second year running for the coveted Heisman Trophy award.
However, Luck’s status as the number one draft pick is unquestioned and the quarterback already has a bright future ahead of him.
Robert Griffin III
Griffin like Luck is one of the best prospects to ever come in the NFL drafts and is likely to be picked second by the Washington Red Skins who traded for the pick with St. Louis Rams.
The Baylor Graduate won the Heisman Trophy award in 2011 after a stellar season with his college team and was also voted as the Associated Press College Football Player of the Year.
He passed for 36 touchdowns in the 2011 season.
Griffin also impressed the watching NFL scouts at both the Combine and on his Pro-Day and his undoubted talent is set to light up the league in the 2012-13 season.
Matt Kalil
The younger brother of Carolina Panthers centre Ryan Kalil, Matt has been touted as the best offensive tackle, available this year.
He has been connected frequently with the Minnesota Vikings who hold the third pick in the drafts and need to strengthen their offensive line.
Kalil from the University of Southern California was voted into the College All-American team in 2011.
Justin Blackmon
The wide receiver from Oklahoma State University has been touted as one of the top prospects of this year’s drafts.
He has been scouted out by the Cleveland Browns and if they move for him, the wide receiver will become the fourth pick of the drafts.
Having won multiple awards during his college career, Blackmon’s talent running routes is undoubted and he is set to light up the league.
Trent Richardson
The University of Alabama running back is considered as one of the best offensive talents and will be a sure-fire top six draft pick this season.
His admirers include new Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach, Greg Schiano and it is likely that the Bucs might make the move to shore up one of the league’s worst offence.
Richardson scored 21 touchdowns in 2011 and rushed for 1,679 yards, his best statistics of his college career and was named a finalist for the Heisman Trophy Award.
