Top Reasons why Ledley King will not perform well for England at world cup
England world cup hopes were in shatters with the untimely injury to captain Rio Ferdinand who has been ruled out of the world cup. One man’s misfortune is another’s opportunity and that is exactly what is in store for Ledley King.
King has been called up to South Africa, a dream come true for the Tottenham defender. Fabio Capello still has lots of preparing to do but King has lot of proving to do.
Here are the top reasons it would be hard for Ledley King to do well:
1. Ledley is not fully fit and is carrying an ongoing knee injury
2. King’s call to the world cup has lots of unanswered questions for Capello; Will he be able to keep pace with some of the top players in the world; when Messi and Ronaldo come attacking can he push his body to the limits
3. Can King play seven games in one month?
4. King needs to form a solid understand with the X-England caption John Terry but the time is not on their side, first game against USA starts on June 12, which gives them less than five days to work. Due to injury; King is mainly working with the doctors and is not really spending any time practicing. Both Terry and king have lots of years under their belt and they will need every ounce of experience while playing at world cup level.
5. The altitude in South Africa is different than what King is used to in England, he does not have lots of time to adjust.
6. King will have difficult time with the new ball, which is a hot topic with many and the design team of the FIFA ball is under pressure.
