Top Rookies in the National Hockey League – Part 3
Tyler Ennis, Buffalo Sabres
Tyler Ennis is not only one of the rookies in the NHL but is also the smallest players present here in the National Hockey League. Ennis weighs around 157 pounds and from the looks of it you might not expect a lot from him.
However, he comes up with round about five hits per game which make him one of the very important players in the Buffalo Sabres roster. What he lack in size, the level of skill that he has makes up for it. Not only this but the Sabres have benefited from
him a lot and with his consistent and productive performances have enabled them to stay in close run for the final play-off spot in the Eastern Conference.
Ennis is 21 years old and with the skill that he has, coupled with one of the unique shots he fires on goal makes him an even dangerous player. He has been one of the regular inclusions in the Sabres team who has a total of 12 goals and scored a total of
30 points.
Ennis has played in all of Sabres 54 games so far in the season and has scored 11 of his season’s points in the last nine games. He has a lot of talent and now that he has got going, Sabres fortune might just shine.
Jamie Mcbain, Carolina Hurricanes
Jamie Mcbain is one of the best rookies that the NHL has come across. With his consistent and productive performances, he has caught the eyes of many around the NHL world.
Not only this, but Mcbain proved all his critics wrong as he spends a valuable and superb around 19 minutes on ice per game playing in all of the 54 games played by the Hurricanes during the course of the season. Though he hasn’t scored as many goals which
are four in total but this is due to the fact of him playing the defensive role.
Anyhow, he has been able to notch up 19 points of which four are out of goals while the rest are for the assists. He his is a very skilled and talented player and with some good physical play often gets past the opposition to find himself in scoring position
or creates a chance for a teammate.
Already named the rookie of the year in the Hurricanes team, Mcbain has notched up wins for them on several occasions and his ability to play in any role at given time makes him all the more important. His career is already going towards the high as in his
very first season in the NHL he was a part of the NHL All-Star weekend.
During the weekend he participated in the Super Skills competition. Though he didn’t win but came up with quite a show and gave the other competitors a tough time. Hurricanes have benefited a lot from him in the past and will be expecting good performances
from him in the future. Currently, things are very heated up in the Eastern Conference where the Hurricanes occupy the last spot for the play-offs.
They need to step up and get their run going after losing the last game against the New Jersey Devils. If the Hurricanes are looking considering themselves as a team who made make it into the play-offs then they need to step up and Mcbain would surely have
an important role to play in it.
