Top Rookies in the National Hockey League – Part 5
Jordan Eberle, Edmonton Oilers
One of the famous and expected inclusions in the list of rookies of the year is Jordan Eberlie of the Edmonton Oilers. Though he hasn’t come up with the level of performances that he was expected but the display on ice he has shown are quite impressive.
Jordan Eberle plays in the right wing position for the Oilers and started the league with dominating performances game after game. He scored one of the most spectacular goals in the history of National Hockey League and that goal might very well win the
goal of the season award.
Though the Oilers have come across a lot of disappointment during the course of the season, this has not stopped Eberle from bagging the performances that he has.
His consistent and productive performances during the season has seen him scoring a total of 11 goals and scored a total 28 points playing in 41 games of the season. If it hadn’t been from the ankle injury he sustained, then he wouldn’t have missed the 13
games and his points tally would surely have been much higher.
The Oilers fans didn’t have much to cheer about during this season and it seems like they won’t be disappointed next time out. They expect the Oilers to emerge as a strong force during the course of the next season with Eberle playing a vital role in the
Oilers' team.
Taylor Hall, another rookie in the Oilers alongside Eberle certainly has the potential to lift a team like Oilers to match the very best teams in the National Hockey League.
Derek Stephan, New York Rangers
Derek Stephan, centre player of the New York Rangers is among some of the most talented and skillful players that the league has come across. He certainly knows how to make a mark in his very first appearance.
The mark that we are talking is that which enabled him to write his name in the history books for the Rangers. Stephan scored an amazing hat-trick in his debut game on the 9th October 2010 and caught the eyes of many from all around the NHL world.
Though there came a drought of scoring goals his game in the middle part of the season but he is up and running again bagging consistent and productive performances. Stephan with the talent he has been able to get past any defence and score goals.
He has played a very important role and still does in keeping the Rangers in the play-off cut even though their recent form hasn’t been as impressive as they were at the start.
If we talk about the current season then he has scored an amazing 15 goals during the season so far and coupled with these are another 16 assists that he made for his team-mates.
This statistics put him alongside some of the best in the league. He has played all of Rangers games and there have been several occasions where he has provided the game changing assists and scored the winning goals.
