Top Signings made by Hockey Teams during the Offseason –NHL Special Part 2
Shane Doan back to Phoenix Coyotes
The Phoenix Coyotes were on their knees all offseason as captain Shane Doan was contemplating to move to another club during the free time citing how the team failed to secure a new ownership.
Doan’s issue with not having an ownership was a very deep problem that could not be understood by fans as it was not the fact that there was no one looking after the team, but the fact that there was not anyone actually raising a voice for them whenever
they needed some executive level support.
Phoenix luckily managed to woo the veteran captain back to his original club, which drafted him on when they were the Winnipeg Jets and picked him up as the seventh overall during round-one of the 1995 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft.
Doan came back to the club by signing on to a four-year, $21.2 million deal as the veteran who potted 50 points (22 goals, 28 assists) in 79 games for Phoenix along with leading them to their first ever Pacific Division title along with a first ever appearance
in the Western Conference Finals returned to where he began it all.
Jaromir Jagr to Dallas Stars
Not really wanting it, but most fans were expecting Jaromir Jagr to call it quits after he failed to go deep into the playoffs after making a comeback with the Philadelphia Flyers, It was hard to see why the Flyers were not able to bring him back on the
club, but Jagr also wowed when he joined the Dallas Stars with veteran Coyotes player, Ray Whitney.
No one thought that the 40-year-old would continue playing, but seeing how he had a 54 point season, contributed 19 goals and 35 assists in 73 games played, the fifth overall draft pick of the 1990 NHL Entry Draft thought it would be best for him to stay
and continue leading in the game.
Jaromir Jagr is without a doubt a legend, and a legend is just exactly what hockey pundits prescribe for a team like the Dallas Stars, who have been struggling these past few years and now might be able to get back into some playoffs action.
