Top Stars to play in the Evian Masters Golf Tournament 2102
Evian Masters presented by Société Générale will begin this week and all the starts will be present at the most anticipated event of the golf calendar.
This year, the entry list reads like a catalogue of the star players of the ladies pro golf.
To get a measure of the star power at the event, consider the fact that nine out of ten top ranking players will play in the event. The list starts with the world’s number one Yani Tseng and goes on to include almost every famous female golfer playing today.
Another stunning announcement is that all members of the European Solheim Cup team will also be present at the French golf course. This team won the recent Solheim Cup and comprises of very confident players.
The European Solheim Cup team members who will play in the Evian Masters are, namely, Suzann Pettersen, Azahara Muñoz, Catriona Matthew, Sandra Gal, Anna Nordqvist, Caroline Hedwall, Maria Hjorth, Melissa Reid, Christel Boeljon, Sophie Gustafson, Karen Stupples
and Laura Davies.
Despite being held in France, Evian Masters attracts top talent from across the world. This year the international players’ list is another collection of top international stars.
Some names off the international rooster are, In Kyung Kim, Sun Young Yoo, Paula Creamer, Muñoz, Brittany Lincicome, Mika Miyazato, Angela Stanford and So Yeon Ryu.
What makes these players flock to an event that was relatively unknown just ten years ago?
The main reason, perhaps, is that the tournament has recently gained joint sanctioning from two of the top golf bodies in the world - Ladies European Tour (catering mainly to European and Asian players) and Ladies Professional Golf Association (manly for
players from Americas).
These blessings have changed the status of the event as well. The Evian Masters Golf Tournament used to be a major tournament on LET but other than that, it was unknown to the rest of the golf community.
This has changed and now from 2013, the event will be the fifth and final tournament on the LPGA calendar. This turn of affairs has led many to predict that Evian Masters Golf Tournament will soon enter the top three most prestigious golf events of the world.
Experts point out another reason of the players’ interest. The all important prize money is the major attraction for the players. Indeed, the prize money is $3.25 million. This is equal to the US Women Open’s prize fund.
For the fans, the most important thing is to see their favourite stars in action. This is the greatest attraction of the Evian Masters. This huge fan following is a boom to the sponsors who pour in huge sums of money into the event.
Evian Masters is a great place for all and from the next year, its prestige and attraction will skyrocket.
