Top amateurs ready to play against pros in South African Women’s Open
Amateurs all over the world are getting ready for South African Women’s Open. It is a perfect opportunity for them to match their game against the top pros.
The tournament is a perfect opportunity for amateurs to play against some of their favourite stars. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that offers a chance at glory and takes them a step closer to a pro career.
Another motivation for the amateurs is the sanction status of the tournament. South African Women’s Open is co-sanctioned by both the Ladies European Tour and South African Women’s Professional Golf Association. This endorsement enhances the prestige attached
to the event.
Kim Williams, South Africa’s leading amateur said that the tournament is an excellent opportunity for amateurs to improve their chances of going pro.
She said, “It’s a big step up from the amateur to pro ranks, so the more experience you can gain at that level the better”.
South African Women’s Open is a very amateur friendly tournament. It has extended a record 13 invitations to amateurs, many of whom will be attending their first pro level event. A good position on the leaderboard could mean an exemption status in the coming
tournaments.
This is very clear to South Africa’s number two amateur, Nobuhle Dlamini. She is very much aware of the opportunities this event presents.
Talking about the topic, she said, “We all want to be professionals one day and this is the perfect opportunity for us to measure ourselves against the professional standard”.
Many amateurs have modelled their careers on the careers of their favourite stars. For South African amateurs, the role models are either the defending champion Tandi Cuningham or the gifted player Lee-Anne Pace.
Confirming this opinion, Nobuhle Dlamini said, “We want to follow the likes of Lee-Anne Pace and Tandi Cuningham onto the world stage, and this is our opportunity to prove we have what it takes”.
South African Women’s Open is a perfect venue for top amateurs to play alongside the greatest golf talent in the world. Many of them are hopeful of a great score on the leaderboard.
