Top batters in the Major League Baseball in 2013 season – MLB Feature – Part 2
As we move towards the top of the list, we find some great names and a stiffer competition for the top slots. These hitters have been instrumental for the success of their respective teams and how well they continue during the season could well determine
the eventual performance by their respective teams and whether or not they make it to the post-season.
Jean Segura (Milwaukee Brewers)
The 23-year-old shortstop has hit a rich vein of form this year as he is hitting with a batting average of .339 and so far has posted an impressive .375 on-base percentage. Considering it is only his second year in the Majors, it makes the performance even
more valuable.
In 59 games so far, Jean has so far scored 35 runs with 80 hits with an impressive seven doubles and eight triples. He has had six home-runs and 26 RBI’s as well. He has also been one of the leading base stealers as he has stolen 16 already and only been
caught twice. He has taken advantage of 11 walks this season as well.
Still in the early days of his career, Jean has a great future ahead of him. All he needs to do is to be consistent and continuing doing the good work. The Brewers certainly have found a gem and should keep him with them for a long time to come and develop
him along the way.
Michael Cuddyer (Colorado Rockies)
Michael Cuddyer is a veteran right fielder in his 13th season of Major League Baseball. He is currently in his second season with the Colorado Rockies. Previously, he was associated with the Minnesota Twins for 11 seasons.
Michael’s current batting average of .339 is the highest in any given year. He also has an on-base percentage of .397. He has so far scored 25 runs and has had 59 hits. He has got an impressive 10 home-runs and 37 RBI’s thus far. He has so far got 16 walks
with a couple of intentional walks. Michael has also stolen five bases.
Despite being a veteran, Cuddyer is performing much like a youngster and is an important part of the success that the Rockies have thus far achieved. He can play an important role at the eventual outcome of the Rockies’ season along with the likes of Troy
Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez.
Troy Tulowitzki (Colorado Rockies)
This is the second name from the Rockies on the list. Troy is reasonably experienced at the Major League level and is playing in his eighth season at the highest level. His performance has certainly been quite impressive this season.
The shortstop- is currently batting with an average of .348 and has a .414 on-base percentage. In 56 games, he has gotten 38 runs and has got 71 hits. He has scored an impressive 14 doubles. He is one of the leading home-run hitters this season with 15 and
also has batted in 49 runs. He has so far had a total of 21 base on balls with two intentional walks as well.
It will be important that Troy continues the good work along with Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Cuddyer, the Rockies should just do fine at the conclusion of the season. The home conditions at the Coors Field also are favourable for big hitters which should
benefit the team.
