Top batters in the Major League Baseball in 2013 season – MLB Feature – Part 3
The top- three on the list have been phenomenal this year and have earned all the praise that is coming their way. They have truly excelled with the bat and have shown the way how it is done. Although it may be a little early, it is quite possible that these
hitters will be taking the position at the end of the season as well.
Chris Davis (Baltimore Orioles)
The first baseman has been in phenomenal form this season and certainly is enjoying the form of his life. The 27-year-old has already bagged American League Player of the Month Award in April and has won three AL Player of the Week Awards to show his class.
In the 60 games that he has played, he has a batting average of .350 and an on-base percentage .429. Chris has gotten 45 runs and has had 76 hits including 20 doubles. He is leading the MLB with 20 home-runs this season. He has also batted in 52 runs.
He has got 29 base on balls and has been walked intentionally on no less than seven times. He has not tried to steal a base this season.
Chris has left many experts surprised and he has been instrumental in the current show by the Orioles. He will certainly be an important part of the success along with Adam Jones and J.J. Hardy.
Yadier Molina (St. Louis Cardinals)
The Cardinals’ catcher is one of the more consistent performers with the bat in the Major League. He has been around for almost a decade now and has been one of the main performers for the St. Louis ballclub.
In the 57 games thus far in the season, he has so posted an impressive batting average of .352 and a more than acceptable .388 on-base percentage. Yadier has scored 26 runs and has had 76 hits. The catcher has hit four long balls and has driven in 30 runs.
He has thus far walked 13 times and has been intentionally walked twice. He has also stolen three bases though he has been caught a couple of times as well.
The Cardinals will certainly look to continue their fantastic post-season run this season as well. Yadier Molina certainly is going to be instrumental in getting the team moving forward.
Miguel Cabrera (Detroit Tigers)
Miguel is now in the 11th season of his Major League career. He has been one of the more consistent hitters in the last decade and it is not surprising that he is performing quite well and is at the top of the batter’s rankings.
In the 59 ballgames so far, he has posted a .368 batting average along with a whopping .447 on-base percentage. He has scored 47 runs and has gotten 88 hits including 15 doubles and a single triple. He has so far batted in 67 runs, the most by any hitter
so far. He has also scored 17 home-runs, the second most in MLB in 2013.
Cabrera has been intentionally walked seven times. He has walked a total of 33 times. He has also stolen two bases.
His current form will play a crucial role in the success of the Tigers and will be crucial for the team’s chances for the post-season success. It will be interesting to see if he can maintain the same intensity for the rest of the season as well.
