Top dressing my new lawn ?

Question

i have a few small patches that i can't seem to get the grass seed to germinate in,and thought top dressing may thicken the grass out,

i don't want to add top dressing to soon, so can i top dress right away or will i just cause more problems because the grass is still young.

next time you try to fill the areas in add a thin layer of good topsoil and then use Scotts Patchmaster, its a combination of seed, fertilizer and newspaper which has always worked for me.  Just keep it watered and grass will grow.

you can top dress now the grass will grow thru the top soil

your best solution is to wait until fall if you have really hot summers.
