The German number one stated, “It's not easy of course, it doesn't matter which group you are in. It's hard, every match. We are now the best eight players. It's an honour for me to be here. Every single match I will enjoy, it's
a bonus for me for such a great year. It's amazing. When I started this year I was not thinking about No. 5 or to be here, so that's really a great highlight for me.”
She was no way near the Top-20 category at the start of the season but the left-handed German has been absolutely thrilling throughout the season. She is a classic athlete and a fighter. She never gives up early even if she is
a set down and struggling to make an impact in the second set. She will not lose out points very easily. She will force her opponent to work hard and that is always a plus because some of the big guns doesn’t like to be grinded by their opponents and like
to dominate; when they can’t they commit several unforced errors that can run in favour of Kerber.
Sara Errani
The Italian superstar is also the number one player in doubles. The breakthrough season for Errani has featured some scintillating doubles coupled with amazing runs at Grand Slams. She was seen in the final of the French Open Championships
against Maria Sharapova and made it to the semi-finals of the US Open as well where she fall victim to the onslaught of the legendary tennis icon, Serena Williams. Commenting about Istanbul, the Italian said, “Of course it's a tough group. All the groups here
are tough, the players are strong. We will see. I will try to play my best game. Singles and doubles, it's amazing for me. We will see.”
It is amazing to witness that some of the bottom four athletes in the elite-eight category have been more impressive than anyone. These two players are making their year-end finale debut this year and they deserved it especially
considering the way they came all the way down from near world number 100. They are the most deserving athletes playing in the Istanbul season end finale.
