Top five exciting moments of the 2011 Major League Baseball season

The 2011 regular season proved to be a dramatic one as some nail biting encounters were witnessed during the year. There were some terrific performance in both pitching and hitting departments of the game. The catchers also played a crucial role to take
their teams to glory. In addition to the hype of play off races and the spectacular World Series, the 2011 season was filled with joy, humours, action and excitement. Overall, it was a complete enjoyment package for the fans and followers.
There are a large number of players, who displayed some high quality baseball during the 2011 MLB season. However, we will talk about only the top five exciting moments here in this article.
1. David Freese, St. Louis Cardinals
David Freese absolutely dominated the opposition teams with his amazing hitting abilities during the 2011 season. In my opinion, his efforts were so great that they led St. Louis Cardinals to eventual Championship. His heroics in game 6 of the World Series
were memorable, when he hit a game winning home-run to take his team to glory. After scoring the winning run, Freese started to celebrate as his team mates rushed to the field.
2. Derek Jeter, New York Yankees

New York Yankees’ short-stop Derek Jeter has the abilities and skills to be the real-life Captain America. During his time with the Yankees, he has given some great performances. His heroics on the field have earned him a reputation of a brave fighter. However,
Derek had to wear a hilarious Independence Day uniform during an assignment for Trenton Thunders. In the outfit, the New Yorker looked nothing less than a superhero. It really doesn’t matter what Jeter wears, as he always performs at the highest level for
the Yankees.
3. Rookie Pitchers, Chicago White Sox
We always feel bad about the new players, who face humiliating punishments from the veteran players. However, Chicago White Sox Rookies seemed to be taking their punishment in stride. Most top batters love going after the rookie pitchers to teach them a
lesson and welcome these young players into the Major Leagues.
4. Ben Revere, Minnesota Twins
Ben Revere earned a reputation for being one of the finest catchers in baseball as he helped Minnesota Twins lift their game to a higher level. Following his great performances, he was also promoted to the Majors. However, he took his best catch on August
22, when he ran 50 to 60 yard backward to silence the away crowd. It was an astonishing catch considering the distance Revere had to cover to get there. Sprinting to the wall, he jumped high and barely snagged the ball. His manager, Ron Gardenhire was so excited
at the occurrence that he called Rever’s effort as one of the best in history of the game.
"That might be one of the best catches I've ever seen, considering he ran 50, 60 yards to catch the ball." He commented.
 5. Ervin Santana, Los Angeles Angels
Los Angeles Angels gave some impressive results in the year 2011, thanks to Ervin Santana, who was absolutely brilliant in pitching department of the game. Santana helped his side secure memorable victories during the season and his performance against Cleveland
Indians on July 27 will be remembered for a very long time. Tossing his first career no-hitter in a thrilling contest, the Dominican celebrated in wild style.
