Top five performers of the week: 2011 Australian Age Swimming Championships
The 2011 Australian Age Swimming Championships left many long term memories on its behalf for viewers, especially in terms of the Girls 17/18 years competitions at the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre in Adelaide, last week.
Tessa Wallace of Pelican Waters QLD took 4 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals in this championship. Firstly, she captured the golden crown in the Girl’s 17/18 years 200m breast-stroke with a remarkable time of 2:31.67 minutes, while S Marshall grabbed the
silver with a matchless time of 2:33.31 minutes. M Sansby of QLd took the bronze with a 2:33.92 minutes effort.
In the 100m butterfly, she wound up first with a sterling time of 1:00.10 minutes. Meanwhile, L Bird of NSW placed second in 1:01.47 minutes and N Mee of NSW finished third in a time of 1:01.51 minutes. She clinched the 200m IM title with a fabulous time
of 2:15.60 minutes. On the other hand, A Scott of QLD took the silver in a time of 2:18.31 minutes and H Brettle of VIC snatched the bronze in 2:19.96 minutes.
In the Girls 17/18 years 400m IM final, she picked up the top seed with an incredible time of 4:47.92 minutes, while M Sansby wound up second in 4:55.22 minutes. J Legge of NSW finished third in a time of 4:57.39 minutes.
The second most impressive performance was put forward by Jessica Ashwood of SOPAC NSW, who clinched three gold medals in this championship. She took the golden crown in the Girls 17/18 years 200m freestyle final with a winning time of 2:01.06 minutes. M
Van Hunnik of QLD was placed second in 2:01.63 minutes, while B Bennett of VIC finished third in a time of 2:02.32 minutes.
In the Girls 17/18 years 400m freestyle final, she claimed the gold medal with the fastest time of 4:12.12 minutes, while A Allen of QLD grabbed the silver in 4:14.69 minutes. B Bennett of VIC snared the bronze in a time of 4:15.59 minutes.
Amazingly, she nabbed the Girls 17/18 years 800m freestyle title with an astounding time of 8:34.82 minutes. On the other side, E Killey of NSW finished second with a time of 8:49.33 minutes and K Lee of QLD wound up third in 8:49.58 minutes.
C Campbell of QLD was the winner in the Girls 17/18 years 50m freestyle meet with a sterling time of 24.87 seconds, while Jessica Morrison was placed first in the 100m freestyle in 55.61 seconds. In the Girls 17/18 years, W Ireland of SA snagged the golden
crown with a stunning time of 1:01.35 minutes. Meanwhile, J White of NSW settled first in 200m back-stroke with an intriguing time of 2:13.98 minutes.
In the 100m breast-stroke meet, S Marshall of NSW snared the gold with a fabulous time of 1:08.99 minutes, whereas, N Mee of NSW finished first in the 200m butterfly with a 2:13.70 minutes effort.
