As the St. Louis Cardinals ended the 2011 season with another World Series championship, fans began to look for the following season. However, for a moment, let’s look into the next season as the future of baseball in the not too distant. These pitching prospects
will be hoping to make a mark in the Majors league in the near future.
Matt Moore, Tampa Bay Rays
Matt Moore is one of the most promising MLB players and he is expected to give impressive results in 2012. Following his consistent performances, Moore was picked by the Rays in the eighth round of 2007 MLB draft. Impressing critics with his high quality
skills, Moore established himself as one of the most talked about baseball players at AAA Durham. Pitching with control and accuracy, Moore went 4-0 with an incredible 1.37 ERA while striking out 79 batters in 52.2 innings. He was ranked first in the list
of top pitching prospects in baseball by Baseball America. MLB.com ranked him third on their list of overall prospect in the game.
Julio Teheran, Atlanta Braves
Teheran has been absolutely brilliant in pitching department of the game for the last two years. He is considered amongst the top five pitching prospects for the season 2012 by both MLB.com and Baseball America. In the AAA league, Teheran secured 15 wins
in eighteen starts to become one of the most successful pitchers at that level. Teheran, who was signed as a free agent by Braves back in 2007, has the ability to blow away batters with his on target pitching and control. Striking out 122 in 144.2 innings
in 2011, he went on to prove his class.
Shelby Miller, St. Louis Cardinals
Although Shelby Miller entered the year 2011 as the number thirteen pitching prospect in the game, he was soon included in the top five by Baseball American and MLB.com. Shelby has this unique ability to deliver goods playing under pressure. He was drafted
out of high school in 2009 and he has given sensational performances since then. Posting an impressive 11-6 record with 2.77 ERA and 170 strikeouts in 139.2 innings in 2011, Miller is placed third on the list of top pitching prospects in 2012. However, he
still needs to polish up his control skill to reach similar results in the Majors league.
Jacob Turner, Detroit Tigers
Tuner was drafted in the first round by the Tigers in the 2009 MLB Draft. He can pitch with great control and power. Although he earned 5-4 with a decent 3.44 ERA between AA and AAA in the year 2011, he still needs to work on his game play to do well at
the highest level.
Martin Perez, Texas Rangers
Perez looked in commanding form in the year 2011 and he is considered as the second best left handed pitching prospect for the season 2012 by both MLB.com and Baseball America. Although he had few rough starts at the beginning of the season, he found his
form just at the right time.
