Top five winning teams at the end of first half of 2011 MLB season - Part-2
Phillies are dominating a list with 57-33 record and the Red Sox are chasing with 55-35 at the end of the first half of the 2011 regular season. How long can they hold these positions in the presence of the teams like the New York Yankees, Atlanta Braves
and defending World Series champions San Francisco Giants, who are fighting back with great fashion and energy?
Atlanta Braves
The National League’s inconceivable group, Atlanta Braves, cemented their third position after taking 54 wins of 91 games and now are one of the strongest contenders of the 2011 World Series. Having a roster of brilliant pitchers and batters, the club grabbed
many vital and electrifying contests. They even managed to crush the Phillies twice in four series with their ballistic hits.
However, they have a relatively low .587 PCT but their road performance was as good as their performance at home. While playing at home, they clutched 28 games with 18 losses. Their 26 at road wins was three more than the Phillies and it shows how devastating
they can be for hosts.
One of the best things the Braves showed as a team was their quick response to defeats. They did not lose more than three games in a row. However, they lost three times three-consecutive games and all of these were road series except the one they lost to
Houston Astros and New York Mets. Their runs average was little lower than the New York Yankees’ averages, but it did not limit them to be on third place.
New York Yankees
The American League’s powerhouse, the New York Yankees, is no doubt one of the best slugging teams in the Majors. The Yankees’ players have played a few games without home-runs, but in wins, they are one less than the Atlanta Braves. The Yankees are enjoying
the 53 wins and have received 35 losses to grab fourth position in this list.
A team comprises of current best Derek Jeter, the home-run leader, Alex Rodriguez, the winning pitcher, CC Sabathia and many other like Nick Swisher, and Curtis Granderson. They have created fear over their opposition that make them the real destroyers.
Whenever their impulsion combined with home crowd, the Yankees gained a real demolishing form, as they rushed to 30 wins and dropped in just 19 games.
They scored 455 runs that is 27 less than the Boston’s 482, but these were in 88 games two less than the Red Sox 90 and the Yankees probably has an ability to make even more than 27 in two games. Their .602 PCT put them higher than other American League’s
teams and their manager Joe Girardi’s confidence suggest he has the perfect combination to crown the World Series this season.
San Francisco Giants
Facing real competition to save their image as defending World Series champions, the San Francisco Giants are on the fifth position in the list. The Giants’ manager Bruce Bochy, who has been appointed as the manager for the All-Star National League, seems
to have full confidence over his roster.
Having 52 wins and losing in 40 games does not create tension for Bochy. His team have .565 PCT and scored 332, which is in his own opinion is one of the best of the Giants in recent years. They gained 28 wins at home in 44 games while has 24-24 win-loss
record in their road games. However, according to experts, the Giants roster has an ability to convert a losing game into a brilliant win and it is what that might hold them World Champions for the seventh time.
