Top guns of Badminton are ready to meet in the coveted All England Premier Super Series 2011
The top guns of Badminton are going to meet in the coveted event of All England Premier Super Series 2011, which kicks off today, the 8th of March at Birmingham, England.
The elite shuttlers from all over the world will be competing to win the most prestigious title in the history of the game. The World number 1, Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia will be defending his title in the category of men’s singles. His arch rival and superb
Chinese athlete, Lin Dan, will also be there to grab the title.
The top Chinese won the German Open GP Gold 2011 without any facing any major hurdle. In the final, he defeated his team-mate and ruling World Champion, Chen Jin in straight games. His superb form is a clear message to all top athletes that he is going to
make it a second win in the premier super series event, as he has already won the Korea Open Premier Super Series 2011, at Seoul, South Korea.
Chong Wei will have a second round match against the tall Chinese, Bao Chunlai and a possible quarterfinal clash against the talented Indonesian shuttler, Simon Santoso. If he passes these hurdles, he is expected to meet Peter Gade of Denmark in the semi-final
stage, which will be a good fight as the Danish has extensive experience of the International badminton.
The Chinese, Lin, who is the reigning Olympic Champion, has a smooth round till the semi-final, where he will meet team-mate and ruling World Champion, Chen Jin or the former World and Olympic Champion, Taufiq Hidayat of Indonesia.
Chong Wei is yet to beat Lin in the All England and is willing to break the deadlock this time. In last year’s final match, the Malaysian defeated Kenichi Tago of Japan, in straight sets. The top seed Malaysian will be playing without his former coach, Misbun
Sidek, who resigned from his designation on 31st December 2010.
The number two seed Indonesian player, Taufiq, who is yet to win the title of All England, will be there to put a great show for the local crowd. He has won all major events in the world of Badminton except this tournament. He will have a possible meeting
with the number six seed, Chine Jin of China, in the second round. If he gets rid of the hurdles in the initial rounds, he will be meeting the super Chinese, Lin, in the semi-final battle of the event.
All top guns in the category of men’s singles will be fighting in the indoor arena in Birmingham. The fans are going to watch the elite players in action. The qualifying rounds will start in the afternoon today and the main round of the event will kicked
off tomorrow, the 9th of March.
