Top guns of snooker prepared for Brazil battle: 2011 Brazil Masters Championship
World Snooker will take another step towards the development of Snooker, as the game is going to Brazil for the first time. It will be another achievement in Barry Hearn’s plan to expand the game
of snooker across the globe. All big names of snooker like Stephen Hendry, Shaun Murphy, Mark Selby, Ali Carter and Peter Ebdon will be present at the Costão do Santinho resort in Santa Catarina.
The Brazilian event will take place from September 15 to 18 at the Costão do Santinho resort in Santa Catarina. Brazil Masters Championship is an invitational tournament which will bring top players
from around the world to battle for Brazilian glory. The tournament will be a positive step towards the increase in popularity of Snooker in Brazil.
The first Brazilian snooker tournament is a clear demonstration of World Snooker Chairman Barry Hearn’s ambition to take the game to those parts of the world where it has no popularity. Hearn has
been successful in doing so and 2011 Australian Goldfields Open is one of the present examples of his plan.
Hearn spoke to the media in October 2010 about Brazilian event, “Breaking into South America is a huge step towards making snooker a truly global sport.”
World’s top snooker stars will be competing against each other including some local favourites like Igor Figueiredo, who debuted in the World Open last season. The winner of first Brazilian snooker
tournament will pocket about £126,000 in the end of the final match.
