Top guns of snooker ready to take on challengers in 2012 Haiku World Open snooker tournament
First round line-up is set for the 2012 World Open as the final round of qualifying session finished at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield.
All top snooker aces are looking forward to make an appearance at the Haiku arena. The event has entered the first round matches where 16 qualifiers will meet the World Top 16 potters. Before commencing matches of Round 1, eight wild card clashes will be
conducted on the first day of the tournament.
The likes of Sam Baird, Nigel Bond, Joe Perry and Mark King will meet the wild card holders Jin Long, Lu Ning, Rouzi Maimaiti and Hossein Vafaei before the start of Last-32 encounters.
Meanwhile, the Rocket, Ronnie O’Sullivan and the former World Snooker Championship finalist Ali Carter have confirmed their unavailability in the tournament due to some medical reasons.
The event will be featuring top guns of snooker including the likes of reigning World Snooker Champion John Higgins, 2011 UK Championship Judd Trump, 2012 Welsh Open winner Ding Junhui, World Number one Mark Selby, the former World Champions Shaun Murphy,
Mark Williams and Neil Robertson and the legendary potter Scotland’s Stephen Hendry.
The event will bring some of the most thrilling encounters for the spectators. However, the first round has no tough matches except the one between Stephen Hendry and Neil Robertson. The pair played against each other recently in the 2012 Welsh Open where
the former seven-time World Snooker Champion Hendry defeated the Australian by the score line of 4-1.
On the other hand, England’s Mark Allen and Judd Trump have set up a potential second round match. Trump is up against compatriot Andrew Higginson in the opening round while Allen will play against the winner of wild card contest between England’s Jimmy
Robertson and China’s Zhou Yuelong.
One of the hot favourites to claim the title, Mark Selby lost his hopes of winning a major ranking title when he failed against Ding Junhui in the final of 2012 Welsh Open but he is aiming to clinch the World Open title. He will meet the winner Nigel Bond-Lu
Ning wild card competition.
The World Open snooker tournament will commence on February 27 in China. The contest has attracted thousands of snooker fans from around the world who will be watching their favourite players in action in Haiku.
