Top officials of the FIVB gather in Lausanne, Switzerland – Volleyball news
The top officials of the International Volleyball Governing Body got together for a two-day official meeting on Thursday.
The meeting was called in order to put forward the key recommendations of marketing and development of volleyball to the FIVB Board of Administration. The Board meeting is scheduled to start on Saturday, where the Board members will focus on financial, marketing,
and development initiatives. The FIVB Board meeting will be closed on Monday, March 19.
“The important discussions which have taken place over the past two days have set the FIVB up for sustainable development and coordination across all parties. After thorough evaluation, the proposals from the FIVB Executive Committee to the Board are crucial
for volleyball’s long term future with continued reform important, especially in permanent audit, control and risk management,” said FIVB President Wei Jizhong who presided over the meeting of FIVB Executive Committee on Thursday.
In addition to President Wei, the Executive Committee meeting was attended by fifteen members of the International Volleyball Federation. Furthermore, the heads of three marketing companies IMG, XYZ, and Dentsu also showed up at the meeting.
Topics such as FIVB’s reforms and achievements in the recent years were discussed by the committee members. The efforts and exceptional work of FIVB Development Fund were highly recognised. The FIVB Development Fund took the initiative of organising Beach
Volleyball Continental Cup, which involved 142 countries of the world and organised a total of 70 tournaments. The members of Executive Committee praised the notable improvement in Beach Volleyball.
The members of the meeting also reviewed other key points, which included the implementations of new financial system and change in the competition system of FIVB events. The committee was presented with a detailed report of key marketing activities in the
past year. The report also included the details of FIVB television and sponsor strategies.
The FIVB Board meeting will be held at the headquarters of FIVB in Lausanne, Switzerland on Monday and some important decisions are expected to be made. The Federation International is working on its mission to bring improvement in the sport of volleyball
with every passing day and hopefully the sport will gain more attention in the 2012 season.
