Top performers at the 2011 Jose Finkel Trophy in Brazil
The 2011 Jose Finkel Trophy saw several impressive swims in the Men’s 50m breast-stroke, Women’s 50m breast-stroke, Men’s 50m back-stroke, Men’s 800m freestyle relay and Women’s 800m freestyle relay meets at the event held in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
Initially, Felipe Silva came out vibrantly in the Men’s 50m breast-stroke final heat and secured the gold medal on the podium by posting a winning time of 27.49 seconds. The time was short of Felipe Silva’s previous best meet record of 27.32 seconds, set
back in 2009. Recently, Silva won the gold medal in the Men’s 50m breast-stroke event for his nation at the 2011 World Championships, in Shanghai. Moreover, he won the gold medal in the 50m breast-stroke at the 2010 Pan Pacific Championships, in Irvine.
In the meantime, Joao Gomes Jr. took home the silver medal on the podium by posting a stunning time of 27.62 seconds, whereas, Felipe Lima settled for bronze in a time of 28.25 seconds. Raphael Rodrigues was placed fourth in a time of 28.47 seconds, while
Henrique Barbosa earned fifth place honours in a time of 28.64 seconds.
On the other hand, the Women’s 50m breast-stroke crown was taken over by Ana Carvalho with a triumphant mark of 32.37 seconds. In the corresponding swim, Tatiana Sakemi earned silver medal on the podium by submitting an impressive time of 32.97 seconds and
Beatriz Travalon clinched the bronze title of the platform by posting a matchless time of 33.27 seconds. Juliana Marin finished fourth in a time of 33.40 seconds, while Renata Sander was placed fifth in a time of 33.43 seconds. Alessandra Marchioro earned
sixth position in a time of 33.47 seconds.
Then, Daniel Orzechowski hit the wall in 25.50 seconds to win the Men’s 50m back-stroke title. In the corresponding race, Guilherme Guido secured silver medal on the podium by posting a matchless time of 25.92 seconds. On the other hand, Fabio Santi took
home the bronze medal on the podium by submitting an exciting time of 25.94 seconds.
In the meantime, The Minas’ group of four swimmers, Manuella Lyrio, Vandenberg, Julia Gerotto and Cavalheiro powered the wall in 8 minutes and 15.28 seconds to clinch the Women’s 800m freestyle relay crown on the podium. In the corresponding splash, The
CRF took home the silver medal on the podium by submitting a riveting time of 8 minutes and 17.72 seconds. Meanwhile, Corinthians secured the bronze title of the platform by posting a winning time of 8 minutes and 25.15 seconds.
Afterwards, the Men’s 800m freestyle relay title was taken over by Fernando Santos, Joao Amorim, Daniele Tirabassi and Thiago Pereira with a triumphant mark of 7 minutes and 27.66 seconds. In the corresponding race, CRF secured silver title on the podium
by posting a matchless time of 7 minutes and 30.91 seconds. Last, but not the least, Minas took home the bronze medals on the stage by submitting an impressive time of 7 minutes and 33.30 seconds.
The arena applauded for the intriguing and versatile swims of all athletes, while the victorious were awarded medals and accolades after the session’s completion.
