I am visiting Manchester tomorrow from Birmingham, was just wondering what places would be cool to have my photo taken outside of, or to just take photos of. I have already decided to have my pic taken outside The Salford Lad's Club and The Manchester United FC. Is there anything else Mancunian worth having my pic taken outside of, and that it easy to reach from the city centre.

  1. The City of Manchester Stadium. I've seen countless people go to take pictures in front of it.

  2. There's a big wheel in Manchester. You can take photos from the top of there with the view of Manchester City Centre from the sky behind you. You can see for miles from up there.

There are also lots of lovely buildings like the Manchester Town Hall that would look good on a photograph.

You used to be able to walk down Coronation Street, and take photos, but that is now closed.

It may be worth getting the open top tour bus from outside the Town Hall. You can buy an all day ticket and get on and off as often as you want. They will take you to all the top sites and you can jump off at any that you want to see and then get back on the next bus to continue your tour.

  3. Affleck's Palace is a good, famous photo oppurtunity, it's just round the back of Debenham's on Market Street. The top of Market Street loking down and Piccadilly Gardens would be good photo ops as would URBIS and the Triangle. Sackville Gardens in the g*y Village is also quite serene and Canal Street is also fairly well known (due to an altered road sign to make it read ANAL TREET)

  4. Coming from Birmingham the UK's more prosperous second city you may be interested in seeing how Mancunians live in real life, so maybe take a walk around the shanty towns of Fallowfield or Moss Side.

Also Manchester's main cultural highlight - the plastic urinal units in Albert Square where local people go to the toilet in the street is somthing you will only witness in Manchester so is worth a photo or two.

  5. How about outside the Granada studios, no tour these days but with a good chance of getting a Coronation Street actor to join you,

Afflecks Palace a traditional trendy clothing retailer

In the curry mile at Rusholme

King Street is also good for celebrity spotting
