Top players qualify for Women’s British Open
The top players of the recent ISPS Handa Ladies British Masters have qualified for the upcoming Ricoh Women’s British Open.
The first name is the winner of the event, Lydia Hall. The Welsh player was great throughout the event and managed to score a 7-under 209 that remained unbeatable till the very end.
Lydia is very please with her progress so far this year. She commented on her win and said, “Royal Liverpool”.
Next on the list is the American player, Beth Allen. She started the event in the second place and finished in the same place with a final score of 210 points. The American player hit a total of 14 birdies during the three-round tournament.
The third name is that of the British player, Trish Johnson. The well known player was the favourite of the event. Many experts commented that she has improved her game tremendously and the Ladies British Masters once again proved her high level of golf
skills. She scored 211 points that included 15 birdies.
The fourth and the final name is the Australian player, Rebecca Artis. She played a magnificent game and finished third for a score of 211 points. She hit an eagle and 10 birdies throughout the three-day event.
These four players have received exemptions for the Ricoh Women's British Open. This tournament will be played in September.
The dates and venue have been announced and the tournament is already making headlines as more and more players show up on the entry list.
The exemption status differs for the four players. For Lydia Hall, it is category 7G. This is the category for the players who have won an LET or LPGA tour tournament in the current year. The remaining three are classed under 7m, the category for the leading
three LET members.
This victory has also improved the Order of Merit standing for the players. The winner, Lydia Hall is now number 24 on the LET Order of Merit list. Beth Allen is at 22nd and Trish Johnson is at 28th.
Ricoh Women’s British Open will run from September 13 to 16. The venue is the beautiful Royal Liverpool Golf Course.
