Top potential signings for Liverpool
Juventus veteran forward is on his last contractual year. This could mean that the striker would be up for sale for as low as eight million pounds. He would be the perfect addition to Liverpool’s attack. He is currently thirty two years old which means he still has quite a bit to offer. His constant injuries might be an issue though, since Liverpool are already in abundance of players who get injured after tripping over air.
Peter Crouch could make a shock come back at Anfield. Hodgson had recently tried to sign the striker during his days as Fulham boss. He might have a better shot at signing him at Liverpool. Considering Tottenham are in abundance of strikers at the moment and Crouch hasn’t been starting for them, he might be on his way to Anfield. But considering Tottenham are in the Champions League and Liverpool aren’t, might make the player think twice about it.
While Hodgson was showing us his pundit skills at the World Cup, he was constantly keeping a close eye on Gervinho. The Ivory Coast pacey winger who currently plays for Lille, might be an exciting addition to the side. He is currently only twenty three years old which means he could be a long term prospect for the club. He might not be the most spectacular or biggest of names but could definitely be molded into the Liverpool team.
Ever since Johnson has arrived at City, Shaun Wright Phillips has found it hard to appear for any games. This has led to him pondering a move out of the club. There are a few clubs that are looking to sign the winger at the cut down price of only six million pounds. This would be a perfect signing for Liverpool since firstly the player is being sold for so little, secondly he would add the much needed width to the squad that has been lacking for a while now.
Clint Dempsey is another Fulham player who is being linked with a move to Anfield. The United States international has had an impressive season with club and country. This run has attracted interests from teams such as AC Milan. Liverpool would still be favorites if they bid for the player since Dempsey has already played under Hodgson and has said he would love to continue to do so. He is a versatile player who could take the hole left in the squad after the departure of Benayoun.
Mascherano is almost certain to be leaving Anfield by the end of the transfer window. This could spell disaster for Liverpool unless they manage to find a competent replacement. The only player who would be capable enough of replacing the Argentine, is Esteban Cambiasso who happens to be Argentinean himself. The twenty nine year old has strongly been linked to joining the Anfield team and it wouldn’t be a better time for him to do so. There are numerous other teams interested in the player including Real Madrid and hence if Liverpool hope to sing the player, they need to act as fast as they can.
