Top potters sharpening cues for 2013 Premier League Snooker
After a successful completion of the 2012 Premier League Snooker, the top potters are ready to take on the challengers in the upcoming 2013 Premier League Snooker tournament. The line up of the event has been finalised where the top places have been occupied
by the top snooker players of the world. The tournament will feature some of the most thrilling encounters.
The 2013 Premier League Snooker will be featuring the likes of the 2011 World Snooker Championship runner up, England’s Judd Trump, former three-time World Snooker Champion and the defending champion Ronnie O’Sullivan, the World Number one Mark Selby, former
World Champ Australia’s Neil Robertson, the 2011 Australian Goldfields Open winner Stuart Bingham and the 2012 Players Tour Championship (PTC) winner Stephen Lee.
The line up of the 2013 Premier League Snooker will take shape after the finish of two remaining events in the current season, the 2012 China Open and the 2012 World Snooker Championship. Winner of these two events will take the remaining two places in the
line-up. The tournament will commence in August next season with Ronnie O’Sullivan as defending champion.
Speaking to the World Snooker, the chairman Barry Hearn said, “The qualifying criteria we now have in place for the Premier League adds an extra bit of spice to each event as players strive to ensure their place in one of snooker's longest running and most
prestigious tournaments. Congratulations go to Mark Allen, Stephen Lee and Ding Junhui for taking their place in the line-up.”
The chief added, “For those players not yet qualified for the Premier League, it's an extra motivation to win either the China Open or World Championship.”
Meanwhile, O’Sullivan’s appearance of the upcoming China Open and the World Snooker Championship because he was suffering from glandular fever for the last few months as his doctor has advised him to take complete rest. Because of the after effects of the
fever, the Rocket was not able to perform in the 2012 Haikou World Open and the 2012 PTC Grand finals.
The winner of the tournament will pocket prize money of £50,000 while the runner up will win £25,000. The highest break prize money is £5,000 and the reward for the maximum 147 is £25,000.
