Top prospects in American League Central division
As the 2011 season has ended after crowning the World Series Championship title over the St. Louis Cardinals, the clubs now have started to reshuffle their inside and outside players.
Among these clubs in Major League Baseball are the American League central franchises, including Detroit Tigers, which qualified to the American League Championship Series. Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals and Minnesota
Twins are part of the American League Central division.
Tigers were the most surprising entry in the ALCS this past season, but now the club wanted to prove it was not fluke. The front office has started an in-depth evaluation of the top prospects, but there is one, who cannot be downgraded. The 20-year-old Jacob
Turner, who was picked up in the ninth overall draft in 2009, has impressed quite a lot since his inception. In his debut on July 30 against the Los Angeles Angels, the right-handed pitcher justified his promotion with giving up only two runs in just over
five innings. Since then, the Tigers have considered him the top-level prospect for the 2012 season.
Like the Tigers, the Indians were among the top ten teams of the 2011 season, but no one can stop time and ultimately the new comers. Indians did not provided their top prospect any formal training at their own minor league level, as they hired Zach McAllister
from the New York Yankees in the 2010 in exchange of Austin Kearns.
To hire a new pitcher, who does not have record at big league, was a risky move, but the right-handed pitcher removed all allegations and speculations, making one of the best performances at the minor league in 2011 season. Playing at triple-A level, energetic
young player posted 12-3 with a 3.32 ERA in 154.2 innings. McAllister got chance in four of Major League games in 2011, although these were not played with the top, Zach is no doubt a part of the Tigers’ starting rotation in the 2012 season.
As the first base position of the Minnesota Twins is under doubt due to the unhealthy condition of Justin Morneau, the Twins has started examining new candidates. Morneau appeared in only 69 games, but club does not want to put an important place on doubt.
If Morneau could not make it to the 2012 season, the Twins will move their eyes towards the top 23-year-old prospect, Chris Parmelee. The right-handed slugger displayed an extra ordinary performance in September, touching four home-runs and 14 RBIs with an
impressive .355 ERA in just 21 games.
Nothing can stop the talent from display and when we talk about the Chicago White Sox, one lad cannot be downgraded anymore. The right-handed switch hitter, Dayan Viciedo, is one of the players, the White Sox has always desired for in recent years, especially
in the time of difficulties. Viciedo has proven himself as the top prospect, but he still has to wait for the position, as the White Sox have Paul Konerko at first base and Carlos Quentin at right field position. Viciedo’s experience is in one of these places,
but at this time, things do not seem aligned for him. However, rumours swirling about Quentin can provide Dayan a valuable chance in 2012 season.
Last but not the least, the Kansas City Royals, minor leaguer, Mike Montgomery, has a lot of talent in him, despite not taking part in most development sessions this past season. Although the right-handed pitcher has posted just 5-11 record with a 5.32 ERA
at triple-A level, the Royals management love his passion and commitment to achieve and get back his regular strength.
