Top-ranked Tseng watches Stacy Lewis with fascination
Yani Tseng may be going through the toughest phase of her professional career these days, but she is watching her rivals with fascination and not worried about them challenging her at all.
Tseng, who has stood firm at the number one position in the Women’s World Golf Rankings for more than a year now, has been in a fierce competition with American Stacy Lewis since the start
of the 2012 season.
Having seized the second position in world rankings, Lewis is trailing Tseng ambitiously and her biggest aspiration is to become the world number one female golfer.
Tseng, who is preparing to take part in the upcoming CME Group Titleholders 2012 set to start from November 15-18 at Florida, is open to criticism and has appreciated the way Lewis has made
a progress in recent months.
Sharing her thoughts during her pre-tournament interview on Wednesday at Naples, Florida, Tseng said that she is aware of the ever-increasing competition on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf
Association) Tour, but she does not see it as a threat to her.
When asked what it feels like to see Lewis trying to take the baton from her hands, Tseng said that she has been watching Lewis play with great interest, and she has to admit the American
star has become the best player on the Tour now.
Tseng pointed out that Lewis has improved her short game quite a lot, which is the key to making big scores.
“I was asking Stacy because I saw her putting, it's amazing, so I tried to get some tips from her.  It's very different, how can you get tips from another best player,” said the Taiwanese
star who has grabbed a total of 15 LPGA titles since she turned professional in 2007.
Tseng went on to say that the United States can regain its lost glory in women’s golf, thanks to Lewis’s efforts.
“I was very happy to see her playing so well.  I think it's very good for American golf, very good for the LPGA and I think it's great.  18 years, never had an American player win Rolex Player
of the Year, so I think it's a good time to let her win so hopefully next year I can get it back”.
