Top ranked women duo of Juliana Felisberta Silva, Larissa Franca get ready for 2011 Brasilia Open
The countdown for the first event of 2011 SWATCH FIVB World Tour has started. The 2011 Brasilia Open Beach Volleyball Tournament will hit the beaches Rio de Janeiro in Brazil next week.
The competition will officially run from April 17-23. The men’s and women’s duos from across the globe will take part in the first event of the regular season.
The dynamic women’s duo of top-seeded Juliana Felisberta Silva and Larissa Franca of Brazil will surely become the top sensation of the competition. The pairing of Juliana/Larissa is regarded as reigning champions of the beach volleyball. They finished the
2010 season with maximum number of gold medals. They totally ruled the centre court last year and are perfectly shaped to demonstrate a scintillating performance this year.
Currently, the duo is all focused on the upcoming event of Brasilia Open. The countdown for the SWATCH FIVB Opener has moved into the final few days. Juliana/Larissa have undergone extensive training for the Brasilia Open. They also appeared in the Brazilian
Beach Circuit competition, which allowed them to further hone their skills and overcome their flaws before the start of regular season.
Expressing mixed thoughts of the past and future events, Juliana Felisberta stated, “In the last Olympics we were very anxious and gave in giving. Now we have so many expectations, but we are more calm, and know how to manage the pressure better. We're also
four years older and more experienced. It makes a difference.”
Juliana has clearly signalled her intent to give a hard time to opponents. She is determined to add another gold medal in their tally.
On the other hand, Larissa also had her say about the upcoming events of 2011 season.
She stated, “We have to first concentrate on gaining qualification and the FIVB Swatch World Championship. One of the priorities of the year is the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, where we also represent Brazil.”
They are set to meet Maria Clara and Carol Salgado in the Country Quota Playoffs. The other Brazilian team is also eager to build on their World Tour experience. They have also done well in the previous season and are considered as a strong team.
Nonetheless, the actual competition will put their abilities to a real test. Let’s see how they cope up with the power of Juliana/Larissa.
