Torrance has a lot of good chain restaurants like Elephant Bar, Gyu-Kaku, CPK, Mimi's, Claim Jumpers.

For something more upscale, I suggest Aimee's (it's actually in Redondo on PCH but a two minute drive from Torrance) at k**b Hill and PCH.  It's French.  Food is terrific, atmosphere is not perfect because it's a small space.  Also... The Depot in Old Town Torrance is very good and rather dressy.

It's been a while since I've been able to go, but I still have dreams about Restaurant Christine near PCH and Hawthorne.  It's actually on Hawthorne in the Hillside Village.  They describe their menu as contemporary Pacific Rim and Mediterranean with French influences.  I have no idea what that means, quite frankly, other than it's d**n good!  Great, romantic ambience and excellent service too!  They've also been voted "Top Restaurant in the South Bay" for several years by the Zagat Survey.  Try it!!
