Top restaurants in Toronto?

I am going to be on business for 4 days in April in Toronto.

As a "Foodie"I would like recommendations for hot restaurants

Sure, go to Bloor St. West and Christie (Christie Subway Station). Walk out to Bloor St. West, walk one block east to the corner of Bloor St. and Clinton - there on the corner is a small restaurant 'Tacos El Asador', the best Mexican food (at great prices) in the heart of Koreatown!

Hey there...as a fellow foodie, I do believe I can help.  Toronto has some amazing restaurants.

Cava, is a newer spot, at 1560 Yonge.  Amazing tapas type menu, very very eclectic and the only reason to come to this restaurant ( the decor is ho hum, but the food shines.

Bymark, owned by North 44's Mark McKeown, is a very lush spot in the heart of downtown, ( 66 wellington W at Bay).  Food here is big ticket pricey and worth every d**n cent of it... you have to try the lobster clubhouse!!!!  If you are a hockey fan, here you will see Leafs come in after a home game for a post game nosh.

CAnoe is still good, if you have never tried it, it is definitley worth it.... the view alone is inspiring, and the Canadian influenced menu divine..  Top of the TD Tower, 66 Wellington W at Bay.

I love Perigee, in the Distillery District.  WAYYYY expensive, but if you are a serious foody, you have to try the 7 course tasting menu..  CAll ahead.

Splendido,88 Harbord at Spadina....still one of the very best in the city.  Don't miss it.

Susur.... again, if you're a serious foody, have the tasting menu rather than ordering off the menu.601 King West.

Now, for two of my absolute favourites, not downtown, but oh, so worth the drive.

Via Allegro.  In a strip mall behind Sherway GArdens.  Over the top excessive decadent and ridiculously over priced Italian ot spot.  You would never know it from the front, but this place is a gem, with the best wine cellar in the country ( the list is about the size of NYC's yellow pages).  Food here is exemplary ( they serve a $150.00 risotto finshed with black truffles and 150 year old balsamic vinegar.  They have over 700 scotches, over 200 grappas, and , oh, yeah, if you just want a pizza you can have thta too.

Il PEscatore, Lakeshore West, in Port Credit, is a 24 seat restaurant, family owned and operated.  the chef and host both come from Via Allegro, and know their stuff.  They encourage you to order three ways, from the menu, off the menu ( want something but don't see it?  just ask!), or tasting menus. Chef Davide goes to market daily, and only the freshest and best makes it onto the menu that night.  Reasonably priced, to.

If you enjoy Mexican food, I recommend The Jalapeno restaurant, its by far THE BEST Mexican restaurant in the city.

Live music, clean, fast service, excellent food, friendly staff, calm ambiance.Here is the address...

The Keg is nice...if you're downtown there all lots of choices all up & down Young Street & Bay & Front Street...Good Luck..

North 44  -   is a  VERY good one if you watch the food network the show Heat with Mark Mckwin? That's his restuarnt and the food is awesome.

Rain  - is good fusion fare

Aumberge de pomier - Very nice french food

Susur  -  good as well

Okay, here is a real answer...

Toronto has some great places... an absolute must is Jamie Kennedy's on Church and Front St. The food, wine and atmosphere is unbelievable. You will make the trip back to TO just for it.

Yorkville has some great spots, try Hemingways for a drink and some casual food.

Want something extremely exclusive, very expensive but totally worth it? Perigee. You need reservations, its in the distillery district its a set menu with wine/drink accompaniments, you sit in the kitchen and watch your food being made... it is a great experience.

Oh, Panorama in the Manulife centre, 52nd floor patio, beautiful view of the city, great lounge type environment for evening.

As always it all depends on the type of restaurant, and what you are willing to spend. If you want a good high end restaurant check out Canoe. It's on the 54th floor of the Toronto Dominion Bank Tower on Wellington street. The view of the city is awesome. The link is below. An even better view of the city is from 360. It's at the top of the CN Tower and the restaurant revolves so you get a view of the entire city. There are also many hot restaurants on King Street West. China Town is great, the Danforth for good Greek food, just don't go to Mr. Greek, it's like Greek fast food. I personally like Meze's. You can check out Little Italy, Little Korea, Little India pretty much any type of food you could ask for. If you gave me a price range or even a style or type

You have come to the right place.  The best buffet is Mandarin, the best steak is the Keg.  The best fine dining is the Barbazon in Mississauga.  The most impressive is Sparkles at the top of the CN tower, the view is fabulous.  If you want something more specific, let me know.
