Top seed Ksenia Pervak dismisses Urszula Radwanska in the semi final – Tashkent Open 2011
Clashing in the semi final of Tashkent Open 2011 were number one seeded Ksenia Pervak against unseeded Urszula Radwanska. The two players battled it out on hard courts of the Olympic Tennis School Courts and after 1 hour and 43
minutes of play, Russian Ksenia stood victorious with a straight set victory of 6-2, 6-4.
The two contenders had previously met this year at the New Haven Open, USA CT. The players duelled on hard courts during the quarterfinal and Pervak had won the match to take a lead in the head-to-head. This was another opportunity
granted to Radwanska to avenge her loss but unfortunately she again didn’t stand a chance.
After winning the pitch, Pervak was serving first for the initial round of the first set and in the second game she broke Radwanska to take the lead by the third game of 3-0. Radwanska had a bad start and her confidence was totally
shattered.
However, in the fourth game Radwanska made a riposte and the two constantly won on their own serves in the following three games though Radwanska was still a break down.
By the seventh game Pervak was on cloud nine as she had the upper hand and was looking to break Radwanska and bag the opening set. She ultimately broke her opponent by producing a forehand down the line which Radwanska failed to
control and gave the set point to Pervak.
Pervak dominated most of the opening set and was an impressive player as she was able to save both her break points not allowing her adversary to avail those break point opportunities. She also smashed an ace and with a difference
of 13 points in the total set points won the opening set in a comprehensive victory.
Opening the second set was again Pervak and in the first two games the layers rallied a game for a game levelling the score board at 1-1.
During the third game Radwanska was first to break and in the following two games the two again held serve. By the sixth game Pervak broke Radwanska and leveled the score at 3-3. During the seventh and eighth game the players held
serve to equalize the score at 4-4.
In the ninth game Pervak held her serve by smashing an ace at 40- love and in the tenth game the Russian broke her adversary for the first and last time by placing a backhand return which the Pole (Radwanska) overshot out of court
and gifted the match point to Pervak, who was able to secure yet another flawless victory of 6-4.
The number one seeded Pervak proved that she was rightfully seeded as the top seed and is now facing Eva Birnerova in the final of the Tashkent Open 2011.
