Top seed Lee Chong Wei recovers from slight back injury before the 2011 World Championships
World Number One and the Men’s Singles top seed, Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia, has fully recovered from a minor back injury and is ready to shine at the approaching 2011 World Championships, set to begin in London, on August 8.
Chong Wei, who is the top seed in the Men’s Singles draw of the World Championships, has high chances to win the title and break the deadlock for Malaysia, as no shuttler from the country has ever managed to win a title in this mega event, since its inaugural
in 1977.
He is currently attending a training camp at the University of Bath in England and has completed three training sessions. He has gained confidence, indicating that he has recovered from the back injury and is ready to put up great show of world class badminton
in the meet.
While talking about the physical condition of Chong Wei, his coach Tey Seu Bock said, "Chong Wei has fully recovered from the back injury and I think it cannot be a better start for us. He has been able to push to the maximum in training without any worries
over the last four sessions and he has been comfortable."
He further added, "Chong Wei even did some weight training and his confidence is back. I'm not saying that he is certain to win the world title but at least, he will be able to withstand the tough challenges he will be facing in London.”
The coach also expressed that Chong Wei was a little tensed in the start, but now he is confident as he has fully got rid of the injury. Now, he is in good shape to continue his winning streak as he has clinched six titles in the current year so far.
The 28-year-old Malaysian has been unable to pass the semi-final stage in the previous editions of the World Championships. However, this time, he is in good shape and is looking determined to enter in the queue of world champions by winning the title at
the championships.
