Top ten American League players with the most home-runs in 2011 MLB regular season – Part 3
Toronto Blue Jays’ Jose Bautista holds the first position and being closely chased by Curtis Granderson and Mark Teixeira. Mark Reynolds of Baltimore Orioles and Adrian Beltre of Texas Rangers are holding the fourth and the fifth position respectively. Ian
Kinsler and Jacoby Ellsbury secured sixth and the seventh place.
Following these is a player from Chicago White Sox. Paul Konerko, a first baseman with 14-years experience has secured the eighth position, launching 31 home-runs. His valuable contribution for the White Sox was a positive message, but the club could not
improve their performance to make more than 79 wins. Being the only player from the club, who represented in top ten home-run launchers, Konerko also marked his name in the RBIs list.
He earned 105 RBIs to share sixth place with Jacoby Ellsbury in the American League. The 35-year-old right-hander scored 69 runs and made 163 hits over his 543 at-bats of 149 games. Although Konerko had a big season for the White Sox, his .643 OPS showed
his struggle with a sore calf or knee injury. However, fans can expect to see Konerko 100 percent before the start of the 2012 spring season.
The Most Valuable Player of the Tampa Bay Rays, Evan Longoria has managed to put 31 home-runs in the 2011 regular season. His exceptional performance in the last outing of the season against the Boston Red Sox helped the Rays make a narrow entry in the post-season.
He launched a lead-off homer in the ninth inning and added his club into the four fortunate teams of the American League. Longoria, the right-hander, also added 78 runs on 118 hits and earned 99 RBIs with his powerful bat. He also secured eight position in
AL in walks, as pitchers tried to avoid his powerful hits.
Despite being able to enter in home-run stints, it was not the best season for Longoria, who achieved only a .244 batting average. Making his career-low record in the averages still did not disturb him. Despite missing most of April, Longoria managed to
get his impetus back in the latter half of the season, especially in September and helped the Rays to 17 wins out of 27 games.
The last but not the least, is Miguel Cabrera from the Detroit Tigers. A strong right-handed batter holds the tenth position with his 30 home-runs, but his batting average has distinguished him from all his rivals. He holds the first position with .344 batting
averages in the American League, and also has posted 111 runs on 197 hits. His overall performance in the Tigers’ success in the 2011 regular season has made him the biggest problem for rival teams. The 28-year-old Cabrera utilised his eight years experience
and managed to get his club close in the post-season.
Home-runs are the only category, in which Cabrera performed the least, but he topped in every other part of the game. He is holding the second position in walks (108), slugging average (.586) and OPS (1.033). Besides these, the first baseman has also cemented
fourth position in runs and sixth in RBIs.
The club’s master slugger has topped his team in all crucial times and helped him remove all allegations his opposing experts were hurling at him during the regular season.
