Top ten clashes of 2010 – Part 2
We continue with our countdown to the best clash of 2010 here in part 2.
6. Germany 4 – 0 http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 by the time they came up against Messi and company. However, they did not find anything different in the Argentineans as they put up a very similar performance. Germans yet again scored an early goal and then had the luxury
to sit back and attack the opposition consistently.
Argentina’s full back did not push on enough to give their side another attacking dimension and too much was being expected of the little Messi, who had at least two men around him for the whole match.
Full backs were a problem area for Argentina even before the tournament and it showed why, in this game. Germany attacked wide areas with pace and then centred the ball at every opportunity. They simply over-shadowed the more skilful Argentina side with
brilliant counter attacking football.
5. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 3 – 0 Chile
The score line suggests that it was a one sided affair but in fact http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chile-c2871 played some terrific football during this match. Dunga got Brazil playing top class attacking football and used the 4-2-3-1 formation.
Chile coach, Marcelo Biesla had transformed the Chile side who played a unique 3-3-1-3 formation and pressed extremely higher up the pitch. This led to the match being played at an extremely high tempo and plenty of one touch football.
Although the match was over by the end of first half, it was an exhibition of truly fast-paced football and Chile had their pride intact even after a 3-0 mauling.
4. Germany 4 – 1 England
It was unfortunate that England had a legitimate goal disallowed when the score line was only 2-1 in favour of the Germans. However, there wasn’t too much fuss about it as Germany completely out played England who were pretty ordinary on the day.
Capello’s men had failed miserably up until this point in the tournament and were lucky to qualify for the last 16. England’s defending was shambolic, especially for the first goal when a goal kick was tucked in by Miroslav Klose- two touches and the ball
was at the back of the net.
Mesut Ozil and company were too hot to handle for the English side as they were torn to shreds repeatedly by the Germans.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, while Wayne Rooney’s abysmal form continued in this game as well. Germans took full advantage of the lacklustre premier league stars and put 4 past their helpless goal keeper.
3. Barcelona 5 – 0 Real Madrid
It was a football lesson that was taught to Real Madrid by their archrivals, Barcelona. They were unstoppable to say the least and it is widely acclaimed that Barcelona’s performance that night was the best compared to any time throughout the year.
The game which was about http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629 and Lionel Messi, turned out to be a night where Barcelona’s superior passing and movement won the El Clasico for the Catalans. Cristiano Ronaldo and company failed to get enough of the ball and the Portuguese star
cut a frustrated figure- he even pushed the Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola after the Barca manager had not given him the ball.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 played in a free role and at times, Barcelona played without a front man but such was their level of skill, movement and passing that they didn’t need one. They attacked and defended as a team and deservedly came out 5-0 winners.
Jose Mourinho was left stranded in his first El Clasico and the usually cocky and arrogant former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 manager had nothing but praise for the Barcelona team in his post match interview.
