Top ten games of Boston Celtics’ Paul Pierce in the 2010-11 National Basketball Season - Part 1
Paul Pierce is a professional basketball player, who is playing for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association. Since he was drafted by them in 1998, he was the 10th overall pick in that Draft and has led the Celtics twice into
the NBA Finals in 2008 and 2010.
The Celtics won the 2008 NBA Finals and Pierce was named the 2008 NBA Finals Most Valuable Player. Nine times he was selected as an All-Star and four times got selected in All-NBA team. Besides Larry Bird and John Havlicek, Pierce is the third Celtic who
has crossed the 20,000 points mark.
Pierce is also known as “The Truth”, as this nickname was given to him by his team-mate Shaquille O'Neal, when the Celtics defeated the Los Angeles Lakers back in 2001. O’Neal grabbed a reporter and pointed towards his notepad "Take this down", said O'Neal.
"My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the [expletive] truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."
During the 2010-11 NBA season Pierce scored with an average of 18.9 points per game, while his career average is 22.2 ppg. Here are the top ten games of the veteran forward during the 2010-11 NBA regular season.
Boston Celtics 105 - Milwaukee Bucks 102
Pierce notched up 12 of his 28 points in the extra time to reach the 20,000 points mile-stone in his career, including a vital steal in the last 30 seconds that lifted the Celtics over the Milwaukee Bucks in a 105-102 victory on 3 November, 2010 at the TD
Garden, Boston. Paul will never forget this moment as he moved into NBA history and also won the game for his team.
Pierce said, "That was an emotional moment for me. It was tough for me to swallow at that point," he said. "You don't see that often that a player accomplishes the feat with one team. Five years ago, I would never have imagined I would score 20,000 points
in a Celtics jersey. I was a disgruntled player."
In this game Paul made 28 points along with five rebounds, four assists and one key steal.
Boston Celtics 116 - Memphis Grizzlies 110
The Celtics made the surge late in the second half, as they pushed the game into over-time and then made a furious rally in the extra time to overcome the Memphis Grizzlies for a 116-110 win on 13 November, 2010 at the FedEx Forum, Memphis. Pierce played
a key role in this rally, as he gave the Celtics an edge over the Grizzlies with his 4-of-4 from the paint within a span of 11 seconds, before the Celtics wrapped the game up.
Pierce finished the proceedings with a healthy contribution of 28 points, three rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block.
Boston Celtics 99 - Portland Trail Blazers 95
Despite blowing a 16 points lead in the final quarter, the Celtics hung tight and defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 99-95 on 1 December, 2010 at the TD Garden arena. During the game Paul outplayed his team-mate Ray Allen 28-6 roughly in first 48 minutes
of the game. As a whole, the Celtics shot over 50 percent in the game. Pierce was the main culprit behind that healthy rate, as he boosted their percentage with his first four three-point strikes and 9-of-11 shooting from the field.
Pierce led the Celtics attack with 28 points, seven rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block shot in this game.
