Top ten games of New York Knicks power forward Amar’e Stoudemire during the 2010-11 regular-season (Part 1)
On 5th July, 2010 the New York Knicks bolstered their team by the addition of one of best power forwards in the league, Amar’e Stoudemire. The mercurial forward has been a revelation ever since and has transformed the Madison Square Garden franchise from persistent losers into a legitimate squad.
Stoudemire has played a major part in restoring the legacy of the New Yorks. It was due to his presence, that the Knicks were able to emerge out of a tail-spin that saw them finish their last nine seasons below 0.500. The All-Star forward has also been the key element of thrusting the Knicks back into the playoffs for the first time since 2004.
He is also the first player from the Knicks squad to start an All-Star game after Patrick Ewing in 1992.
Stoudemire’s career average is 21.9 points per game, but during the 2010-11 regular-season, he raised his game and scored with an average of 25.3 points in each game. At one point during the regular season, Stoudemire thumped nine successive 30-point performances. Stoudemire also grabbed 8.2 rebounds per game during the season and from the free throw line, he was a healthy 0.792 percent. Down below are the top ten games of the gifted power forward during the 2010-11 regular-season.
New York Knicks 113 - Sacramento Kings 106  :  17th November
The Knicks were struggling extensively prior to this game and the way they tipped it off, a seventh straight loss was just around the corner. However, Stoudemire had other plans. He pounded 27 points and notched 10 boards to drag the New York Knicks back on track, as they overcame the Sacramento Kings in a 113-106 victory and snapped their six-game losing streak.
New York Knicks 125 - Detroit Pistons 116  :  28th November
The New York Knicks made a late surge that enabled them to prevail over the Detroit Pistons in a 125-116 double-overtime victory at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Stoudemire played for more than 50 minutes and finished the proceedings with 37 points and 15 rebounds to reach another double-double.
Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni was really impressed with Stoudemire, he said, "He does what a leader needs to do," "He's never down, and he never gets cross -- he just keeps leading and leading. Raymond was sick today and real quiet, but Amare filed the void. That's what great leaders do."
New York Knicks 100 - New Orleans Hornets 92  :  3rd December
On 3 December, 2010 at New Orleans Arena, Stoudemire tallied 16 of his 34 points in the second quarter and single-handedly slashed an eight point shortfall. His heroics on the night enabled the Knicks to take a lead as big as 14, before they eventually took the game away from the New Orleans Hornets 100-92. Until that time, the New Orleans Arena was like a fortress for the Hornets and they had lost only once in the nine home games.
After the game Stoudemire said, "I try to be a dominant force. With the energy I try to bring forth on the basketball court, with my communication skills and my leadership role, I try to provide some confidence and swagger to us as a team and it seems to be working well."
During the game Stoudemire counted 34 points along with four rebounds, 10 assists and three steals.
