Match # 4: Neil Robertson vs. Martin Gould
The fourth match on the top ten list of memorable matches in 2010 is a dramatic one. It was a skirmish took place on the green baize table, between the qualifier Martin Gould and the Australian stallion Neil Robertson, at the crucible theatres during the world snooker championship.
During the first session of the match, Martin seemed invincible as he had played some best snooker of the season. Opening the frame with a 6-0 lead over Neil, Martin was in complete control of the match and his destiny.
By winning two frames before the end of the first session, Neil was somehow still lingering around with a score-line of 6-2.
Later in the second session, Martin continued his rampage, as the score moved to 11-5. At this point Neil must have thought that he has lost it and now there is no chance for him to be back in the game, but it turned out to be the other way around.
Neil was still hopeful and fought back tremendously, as he played sensible and safe snooker. Refraining Martin from winning a frame onwards, Neil struggled hard to claim the victory with a score-line of 13-12.
It was a tough match as Neil put up a great fight to clinch the victory by 13-12 coming all the way from 11-5.
Match # 5: Ronnie O’ Sullivan vs. Mark Williams
The nature of the match can be understood when two epic all time greats face each other. This match indeed proved to be unforgettable, as the two giants of the world snooker played at their best.
Ronnie began with a strong start, extending the lead to a score-line of 4-1. Mark replied back and ended the session with levelled scores of 4-4.
In the second session, Williams looked set to wreck Ronnie’s ambitions, as he took the lead and surged for the win. This time Ronnie came back into the match by equalizing the score-line 8-8.
After the scores got levelled up it was Ronnie all over the place with an astounding set of four centuries and affirmative breaks of 50 plus.
Ronnie went for the kill with the final score-line of 13-10.
Match # 6: Mark Selby vs. Ronnie O’ Sullivan
Sixth match on the list is the quarterfinal clash between Mark Selby and O’ Sullivan. After a tremendous win against Mark Williams, Ronnie had to face a vigorous defeat at the hands of Mark Selby.
The first session of the match was tied between the two cue-men, with a score-line of 4-4. With promising breaks of 117, 92, 89 and 86 Ronnie moved across to a 9-5 lead in the later session of the match, being just two frames away from the victory.
Mark created ripples in the drama dominated by Ronnie after winning both the significant frames. The final session saw some great enthusiasm by Mark Selby. The match proved to be a battle of contriteness, as Mark put up a great fight to clinch the victory from Ronnie who was almost home.
Match # 7: Graeme Dott vs. Mark Allen
The seventh match on the list is another fighting quarterfinal of the world snooker championship was played between two fighting snooker players, Graeme Dott and Mark Allen.
It proved to be a great contest between the two talented cue-men, as the match score was levelled up 8-8 before the end of the first session.
The second session was dominated by Graeme, as he moved ahead Allen with the help of two breaks of 50 plus. At the score-line of 10-8 Allen came back strongly in the match by winning next four frames, standing one frame away from the semi-finals.
What followed was an astonishing reaction from the Scottish cue-man Graeme, as he managed to win next three frames claiming the victory.
After this dramatic and exciting win, Graeme went on to play the semi-final with Mark Selby.
